A Bond Was Formed

For life, between new mother and the newborn

Hard work and perseverance

Often lead to joy, they say.

Eight long months of

Discipline and self-care,

Amidst risk, warnings,

And close monitoring,

Culminated in glory.

The birth of a premature baby—

Underweight, and fragile,

Needing special neonatal care.

Mama healing from delivery stress,

in the recovery room,

Baby tended in the NICU,

By expert nurses round-the-clock,

Tubes down her tiny nostrils.

When mama could walk,

She went to meet the baby.

It was a touching moment—

Mama held the swaddled child,

And baby looked up at mama.

A pure bond was formed,

Never to be shaken for life.

Note: It's true story. My own experience. #motherhood
