The sorrow that isn’t YOURS,
the joy that doesn’t belong,
the gravity of a thousand silent elegies.
(You wonder—)
Would it ache LESS to feel
LESS—just a breath LESS?
To hush the echoes,
to dim the blaze,
surrender to the gentle haze of existence?
But—
You are the SEER.
The tremble in a timbre,
the radiance in the oft-overlooked.
You see color where others see GRAY.
You LOVE audaciously where others falter.
You CARE—deeply—even when it unravels you.
And that, dear,
is NOT fragility.
That is fire wrapped in ravishing GRACE,
fortitude cloaked in velvet tenderness,
a swoon-worthy symphony of SOUL.
YES, the world may never quite notices
how your heart grieves
for wonders it’s never touched.
But still,
You LOVE.
You BELIEVE.
You ENDURE.
(And that is NO ordinary thing.)
So HOLD on.
One day, someone will behold
the ocean within YOU—
its depth,
its sorcery,
the FERAL beauty
of feeling everything.
And they will call it—
HOME.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
