A Bedtime Story?
It started off as one, but I couldn't help myself. I know it doesn't meet the brief, but it was fun writing it.

It was a time of fire, of wind, sea and sand, a time when giants would walk through the land,
And Fergus the giant, where else would he be, but sat on the beach, looking out to the sea.
“My love Saoirse, she waits past the waves”, past a thousand dead giants, and a thousand wet graves,
She was trapped by her wicked, jealous father McCoyle, an ugly red giant, with an ugly red boil.
“You will never escape, and you will never see sky!”, and McCoyle would delight, as her daughter asked why,
“He’ll come for me now, his love is so true”, and Fergus would miss her, his heart was so blue.
But how could he cross, such a huge endless sea, a vast depthless void, no way out, could he see.
Then one day by the coast, a tiny fairy did come, and asked why he looked, so sad and so glum.
“My love lies across there, this ocean so vast”. “So why don’t you go there? Go now, and go fast!”
The fairy continued “If you’re ready just go! I’ll move out the sea, use the ground just below”
And so Fergus agreed, and the fairy did move, the ocean of water, and his heart was so soothed.
Fergus ran through the channel with the water so high, if it crushed down upon him, he knew he would die,
But the walls stood fast, and he reached the far side, he looked back at the ocean, and the sea was so wide.
He knew Saoirse was waiting, he knew she’d be there, with a thousand giant kisses, he knew she would care.
He raced in the castle, then he heard such a BOOM! “Who are you! Speak up now!”… McCoyle in the room.
“I love Saorise, my true love, I must marry her today”
“You’ll have to get through me first, and I’m thinking… ‘no way’!”
The giants fought fiercely, Fergus punched to the ground! Then McCoyle fell down, and the earth did such pound.
MyCoyle said “Well done, you beat me fair and square, you may have the hand in marriage, of my daughter so fair”
“Whoa whoa whoa”, Saoirse entered the room, “don’t I get a say in this? Which giant should be my groom?”
“Look Fergus we’ve been through this, I thought I told you my heart, we had a great time together, but it’s really time we part”
“But I’ve ran past the ocean, can’t I please have one more chance?”
“Oh my God, so embarrassing, we only had one dance!
Look Fergus please move on, find a lovely giant who,,, Is the right one for you, who’ll love you for you!
Who won’t mind if you write stories, and tell you ideas during a meal”,
Oh my God what’s this about, why the fuck’s it so real?
“Wait I’m sorry, this is a fairy tale,, isn’t there a happy end?”
“There will be but not now, I’m sorry If I offend.
There’s a giant for you out there, and you’ll make her happy I know,
But I’ve got ambition, and places I’ve got to go.”
And so Fergus sadly agreed, and he left Saoirse be,
He walked on the sandy beach and felt the sand under his feet,
Just why it had all changed, his heart felt so numb,
He didn’t know what had happened, who his love had become.
The reason for starting this bedtime stories challenge had now gone,
“A kids bedtime story? Yeah no chance, good luck all who’d won”
And so Fergus decided, one more time would he try,
He’d fight for his future and try to stop asking why.
He looked at the word count, 638 words to send
It made no sense, it never does, but you know, it was fun?
The End.
