A Bad Dream...

A poem for my "Writing Prompts for October" Challenge

A Bad Dream...

She awoke in the dead of the night,

From a haze of a dream.

She remained in fright.

From memories that made her scream.

The unfortunate horrors that hide beneath her eyes.

The only company she had was the moonlight.

She remained in bed just paralyzed,

Too afraid to even turn on her bedside light.

"It's just a dream" she said out-loud to nobody in particular.

As her eyelids began to flutter,

And she attempted to drift away back into another dream full of colours.

The monsters creeped out of her head and joined her under the covers.

What a nightmare to be had.
