9:52 AM

Don’t leave.

By Jay WilsonPublished 8 years ago 2 min read

It was six in the morning

The sun was rising

I had to get moving

No time for more sleeping

I grabbed the coffee pot

Today was the day

Ten am was so far away

I knew I could do it

Seven in the morning

The songbirds calling

I was ready for it all

The clock moving slowly

I opened the window

What a beautiful day

This was the start

Of our life together

Eight in the morning

Come on come on

I pulled on my outfit

And brushed my hair

I was so in love

With all of her

Ten am was the perfect time

In the perfect day

Nine in the morning

Only an hour to go

I smarten myself

And pocket the ring

She doesn’t know

Today is the day

I will propose

Hoping she will say

Yes to my love

Together it begins

Our life together

No matter the sins

9:52 in the morning

I arrive in the park

Jittering and happy

I scan for her mark

She comes towards me

I am no shaking

Can we talk

She says a seat is taken

Of course

I reply

So ready to ask

I sit beside her

Waiting at last

I can not do this

She says with a frown

What does she mean

She is so down

I love you so much

Well I love you too

But I cannot do this

Anymore with you

She gets up and leaves

I am still sitting

I watch her go

She really is leaving

Come back to me

What did I do

The ring in my hands

We can’t be through

She isn’t coming back

It’s eleven a.m

I have not moved

Still staring at the crack

I feel so broken

But I do understand

The day is still beautiful

In my two hands

I go to the coffee shop

Refusing to cry

A large please if you will

Can’t believe it still

Midday comes and goes

I still sit and stare

What do I do now

Love is everywhere

I see her in the park

Where we first sparked

I see her in my coffee

Where we ate toffee

I see her in the sunny sky

I see her in the clouds so shy

I see her in my hands

Even in the silly wristbands

God I still need her

Beside me

I need to forget it

How does it fit

heartbreak
