500,000 Red Balloons For Peace

One morning, the world woke up

and nobody picked up a gun.

No bombs fell.

No sirens cried.

Just quiet.

Real, honest quiet.

Somewhere, a bell rang, not for war,

but to gather people together.

And they came.

From every corner,

from every country,

they came.

Hands once clenched in anger

opened up in peace.

And then,

500,000 red balloons

were passed from hand to hand.

One for every lost soul.

One for every broken heart.

One for every silent prayer

that whispered, “Please, let it stop.”

When the last balloon was ready,

someone counted:

“Three… two… one…”

And all at once,

they let go.

The sky turned red with hope.

Balloons floated higher and higher,

no longer weighed down

by hate or fear.

Children laughed.

Old men cried.

Soldiers hugged strangers.

Enemies shook hands.

Some just stared up,

watching the sky heal.

No more battles.

No more borders drawn in blood.

Only people,

together,

learning how to live again.

And the world,

for the first time in forever,

breathed deep, shared breath

to celebrate worldwide peace.

What a beautiful sight this would be in today's world. Could this really happen though? Good job.

a sky turned red with hope. What a beautiful sight that would be. I long for a world that opens hands instead of clinches them in anger.

  • We always hope and your poem is full of hope, thankyou for sharing xx
