He took forty-one rubbers

And a balding toothbrush,

For a trip to the suburbs

He packed up in a rush;

Then he roared like a lion,

Put his Honda in “drive”

And he drove down to Zion,

Down the I-95.

He had forty-one rubbers

And a balding toothbrush,

He has had it with covers –

He has played them to mush,

He would not ask for pardon,

Would not bend to a whim,

He was ready for stardom,

It was ready for him.

He had forty-one rubbers

And a balding toothbrush,

More than some of the others

He could name in a flash,

More than some of the others

Who have then made it big,

He was joining his brothers

For a studio gig.

He had forty-one rubbers

And a balding toothbrush

He had learned all his numbers,

All the grooves he had crushed,

He was ready for wonders,

But – oh my, in his haste

He packed toothbrush and rubbers,

But forgot the toothpaste.
