Ways To Motivate Yourself When You Feel Like Giving Up

Motivate Yourself At Hard Times

By AnikPublished 4 years ago 4 min read

You're sitting at your desk, staring at the blinking cursor. Or you can't stop rereading the same sentence. You feel like giving up. But you don't want to quit. It's difficult finding motivation when you're trying to focus on a task that requires mental energy and concentration, but there are ways to keep yourself productive and reach your goals. What follows the tips for staying motivated when you feel like quitting.

Consider how far you've come

Don't dwell on the problems or failures when you're considering quitting. Instead, consider how far you've already come. Always keep your gaze fixed on the prizes, rewards, and achievement that you desire, rather than on the challenges or your concerns.

Stop putting yourself in comparison to others

Comparison is the thief of joy.

As soon as you see another person doing something better or getting more attention, you start to wonder why you are not doing that thing and being given the same attention.

When you compare yourself to others, you lower your self-esteem and feel bad about yourself. When people feel bad about themselves, they don’t do anything or take any risks because they don’t want to fail. They spend their time complaining and looking for things to complain about. Comparing yourself to others doesn’t make you better; it makes you worse.

Repeat the process once more

So what if you don't succeed? Tell yourself that it doesn't matter if you don't succeed. You can always pick yourself up, stand back up, and try again. Please keep in mind that you may need to fight a battle multiple times in order to win. As a result, don't give up and keep trying until you succeed. Just go through the motions once more.

Seek assistance and receive the assistance you require

When you're on the verge of giving up, one of the best things you can do is seek aid and support. You won't be able to succeed on your own. You require assistance. My friend, no one is an island. As a result, if you're in danger and don't think you'll be able to handle it on your own, seek assistance.

Learn from your failures and mistakes

Consider the lessons and experience you've gained from your development before giving up. Remember that sound judgment is the key to success. Experience allows you to make good decisions. And incorrect judgment is frequently the source of experience. As a result, the more challenges you face, the better you will be able to progress.

Reconnect with your reason for being

Consider all of the reasons you began before deciding to quit. So, what is your goal? What is your motivation for doing it in the first place? When your reason is strong and emotional enough, it will carry you through the difficult moments and provide you with the support you need to overcome every challenge along the way.

Do whatever makes you happy

It can be difficult to keep going at times. However, you can do something else that will make you happy. Do your pastime when you're stuck and feeling like you're going nowhere. Do you enjoy swimming? Take a chance. Do you enjoy being outside and hiking? Then go ahead and do it. When you return, you will feel lot better and be in a better mindset to deal with your difficulties.

Put up a fight until the tide turns

Just keep moving onward and forward. When life throws you a curveball, don't say "why me," instead say "try me." Remember Martin Luther King's words whenever you feel like giving up:

"Run, if you can't fly." If you are unable to run, walk. If you're unable to walk, crawl; otherwise, keep moving."

Consider the future you desire

Always try to imagine the future you want. Consider all of the wonderful things that will happen if you persevere and succeed. What if you build your company to a million-dollar level and make your ambitions a reality? What if you were to make a large sum of money and buy yourself the car of your dreams? Focus on the bright side once more, my buddy.

Simply take one modest step forward

You don't need to see the whole staircase; all you have to do is take one modest step at a time. When you feel like giving up, all you have to do is keep moving forward. And you don't have to take big steps; just small ones will suffice. It makes no difference how slowly you go as long as you don't give up.

Recognize that everything in life is a part of you

There will be ups and downs in life. It rains every now and then, just like it rains every now and then. And you have a higher probability of seeing a rainbow after it has rained.

Everything in life is a part of it. It is natural for people to face difficulties, obstacles, and hardships throughout their lives. They're necessary since they're there to help you develop and change. Treat your terrible days as character-building days, as Les Brown says.

So, whenever you feel like giving up, remember the advice given here and take action. Also, never give up.

"Success is the ability to bounce back from failure to failure without losing interest."
