There is always a reason for doing something.

After my mother died in 2017 and experiencing a series of highs and lows, I had the initial idea to set up Roaring Ahead. The idea was to offer life coaching to women because of what I had experienced in my own life. However, after attending a coaching program, I felt that the path wasn’t meant for me.

Skip a few years later and I have experienced another mix of highs and lows. But this time, I have decided to relaunch Roaring Ahead as an empowerment business and image consultancy to support and empower people to become better versions of themselves.

But let’s rewind a bit. Let me introduce myself.

I’m a woman of colour and of a certain age.

Born into a family of Indian heritage, I have two deceased parents, an estranged sibling, an ex-husband and a whole ****load of ex-family.

I also have two awesome grown-up children who are the centre of my world.

After leaving my marriage and the town that I had lived in for the last thirty years, I moved to a new city with no family or friends, except for my kids. I decided to completely start again, to reinvent myself and to live the life of my choosing. From learning new skills to adopting daily workout regimes to launching a new business, I made the ultimate decision to transform my life into one that is bigger, better, healthier and happier.

Although I have been beaten down by so many people in my life, I have never succumbed to their want or will to destroy me or my family.

My mother called me her ‘sher’ (lion in Hindi) and as the lioness that she recognised me as, I strived forward and was never defeated by the people who wanted to harm me. It is this inner strength that has pushed me to stand up even after falling. It is this self-belief and the belief that my mother had of me that encouraged me to rise again and again. It is in the memory of my mother that I have, once again, set up Roaring Ahead.

With a lion presented as the emblem of Roaring Ahead, the colours that extend from the lion’s mane and the steely determination that you see in the lion’s eye resembles the same fire and motivation that I have steeled my self with during the course of my life. Together with resilience, tenacity and perseverance being the cornerstones of my life, it’s this determination that has kept me strong, upright and stopped me from falling down an abyss. It’s this determination that I want to encourage within every woman that I work with.
