From sleeping on Dubai’s roads to building a new career, my journey taught me that even the smallest steps can change everything.

Every big dream start small

There was a time in my life when I felt completely stuck. Every day looked the same wake up, go to work, come home tired, repeat. I had dreams in my heart, but they always seemed too big, too far, and too impossible. I kept waiting for the “perfect time” to start, but the truth is, that perfect time never came.

One evening, while scrolling through my phone, I came across a quote that stopped me:

You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

It hit me hard. I realized that I was standing still because I was waiting to have everything figured out. But success doesn’t work that way. Success comes from movement, even if it’s slow.

My Struggle in Dubai

At the start of 2022, when the world was still recovering from the coronavirus crisis, I came to Dubai. I was on a short two-month visit visa and had only one goal: to find a job before my visa expired. If I failed, I would lose not only my money but also my dream of building a life here.

It was one of the hardest times of my life. Jobs were extremely limited because companies were struggling, and everywhere I went, I heard the same response: “Sorry, no vacancies.”

I struggled day and night on the roads of Dubai, searching for work. Some nights I had no proper place to stay sometimes with friends or cousins who didn’t feel comfortable hosting me, and sometimes even on the streets. There were days I barely ate because I had no money. It was survival at its toughest level.

One and a half months passed like this, and I was close to giving up. But then, one day, I received a message from a company: “We need a helper to clean cars. Are you available?”

Even though I had a degree and IT expertise, I said “yes.” I couldn’t afford to waste more time, and Dubai is an expensive city. That job, as small as it seemed, gave me a visa for two years and accommodation.

The work was extremely hard. After long hours of cleaning and walking two kilometers back to my room, I often cried from exhaustion. But I kept pushing through, because I believed that even this small step could lead somewhere.

🚀 The Turning Point

One day, my boss asked me, “Are you educated?”

I replied, “Yes, sir. I’m an IT expert.”

Surprised, he gave me a task: to handle the company’s social media accounts while continuing my cleaning work. I accepted immediately.

For one week, I worked day and night. I managed the accounts, created posts, and engaged with customers. Slowly, the results came — new clients started reaching the company through the online platforms I managed. My boss noticed everything.

After a week, he called me into his office. His words changed my life:

“From today, you will no longer do labor work. We will hire someone else for that. You will manage all our social media platforms from the office.”

I cannot describe the happiness I felt that day. My salary was doubled, I received a car and better accommodation, and most importantly, I found the opportunity I had been waiting for.

đź’ˇ The Lesson I Learned

Looking back, I realized something powerful: that small step of accepting a car cleaning job, even though it felt beneath my qualifications, became the doorway to my real career.

If I had refused that opportunity, I might have lost everything. But because I humbled myself and worked hard, life opened new doors for me.

The lesson is simple: Never underestimate the power of starting small.

🌟 Final Words

Most people fail not because they don’t have talent or dreams, but because they never begin. They wait for the “perfect” opportunity, forgetting that even the smallest opportunity can be the key to something greater.

My story is proof of that. From struggling without food or shelter to becoming a social media manager in Dubai, everything changed because I took one step forward, even when it wasn’t easy.

So, to anyone reading this: Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Don’t be afraid of starting small. Accept the opportunities that come your way, give your best, and trust the process.

Because small steps create big changes. And sometimes, the hardest struggles prepare you for the most beautiful chapters of your life.
