The power of Self Confidence

Unlock Your true potential and Believe in Yourself

By AzmatPublished 4 months ago 3 min read

There was a business executive who was deep in debt and could see no way out.Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. “I can see that something is troubling you,” he said. After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.”

He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.”

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come. The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!

“I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.

With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

“I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the rest home and telling people he’s John D. Rockefeller. And she led the old man away by the arm.

The astonished executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.

A long time ago, in a small town, there lived a boy named Adeel. He was intelligent, kind, and hardworking, but he had one weakness: he never believed in himself.

Whenever someone praised him, he would smile shyly and say, “No, I am not good enough.” Because of this lack of self-confidence, he often missed opportunities that could change his life.

One day, his school announced a speech competition. Adeel wanted to participate but immediately thought, “I will forget my words, everyone will laugh at me.

His best friend encouraged him, but fear held him back. That evening, Adeel went home, sat alone in his room, and looked into the mirror. He saw a boy full of doubt staring back.

Suddenly, his father walked in. He noticed Adeel’s sadness and asked what was wrong. Adeel shared his fear of speaking in front of others. His father smiled and told him a story:

When I was young, I was just like you. I avoided challenges because I feared failure. But one day, my teacher told me something I never forgot: ‘Confidence doesn’t come from never failing, it comes from standing up again every time you fall.’ From that day, I decided to try, even if I was afraid."

Those words touched Adeel deeply. He looked back into the mirror and, instead of saying “I can’t,” he whispered, “I can.” He repeated it again and again until his eyes shined with determination.

The next morning, he surprised his teacher by signing up for the competition. During the event, his hands trembled, but he remembered his father’s words.

He took a deep breath, smiled at the audience, and began his speech. To his surprise, the more he spoke, the more confident he became. By the end, the audience clapped loudly, and Adeel realized something powerful:

Self-confidence is not about being perfect—it is about believing in yourself even when you feel afraid.

From that day, Adeel stopped saying “I can’t” and started saying “I will try.” Step by step, he grew stronger, and soon, people began to admire not only his talent but also his courage.

✨ Moral of the Story: Confidence is like a muscle—the more you use it, the stronger it grows. Believe in yourself, even when doubt whispers, and you will unlock your true potential.
