Do you have a lot of goals and ambitions but you just can’t seem to find the motivation to do them? Do you feel you are lacking in your consistency and discipline? No worries!

We live in a world full of information about how we can improve ourselves and become overall better human beings, but it can be overwhelming when you want to improve yourself and you have no idea where to start.

I will go over five key habits you should implement into your life that will lead you to be a more successful human being, but first we must get clear on what it is you specifically want. In these first two sections pay close attention and remember what first comes to mind when I ask you any questions.

Success Is In What’s Natural

Now I’m going to ask you what you really love to do. Seriously, what do you do every day that you notice yourself enjoying effortlessly? This is a key question you must ask yourself in order to identify what you truly want to be successful at.

This ranges anywhere from taking care of your dog, cooking, face-tuning your recent selfie, connecting to loved ones, anything you can think of. So that activity you really really love to do, especially when no one’s looking? Great, now that you took a minute to figure that out let's move on to the next topic of discussion.

Clarity is power

If you want to be successful, you have to get extremely clear on what it is you want. Clarity gives you power. When you know exactly what it is that you want out of life, you're less likely to sit around being anxious and waste time procrastinating.

I highly recommend you get out a pen and paper and start writing down what comes to mind. What scares you the most when you think about something you'd like to achieve? You don't have to do it, but get curious as to why it makes you nervous. There's no aspiration or dream too big or too small. Give yourself a moment to do this so you can allow all your true desires and aspirations to come pouring out.

When it comes to your goals and dreams, the more detailed and specific you get, the better. You're more likely to stay consistent and focused on what it is you want. No one except you can make your desired life and ambition happen but you.

Five Habits That Lead To Success

  • Examine Your Self-Talk

If you were to look yourself in the mirror and say something, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Are you telling yourself that you’re lazy and pathetic or are you looking at yourself in the mirror and saying “You are da boss!” As simple as this sounds we can often be too harsh on ourselves. You must recognize the stories you are telling yourself so you can make new ones that empower and uplift you. Your self-talk is one of the most important factors you could pay attention to.

  • Meditating

Nothing will bring clarity to your mind faster than some time alone, in a state of complete solitude and breathing. When you meditate, you allow yourself to get into a state of focus and being present and grounded that allows you to expand your mind further.

This opens you to new ways of thinking. Meditation also reminds you to get back into the present moment and become more patient with yourself.

  • Exercising

Now before you leave, listen here… you may be feeling a lack of energy to pursue your goals because you have a lack of movement in your daily schedule. If you're not eating a healthy diet or getting enough sleep these will also contribute to your lack of energy.

It’s easy to sit around overthink when you’re not moving. Simple concept, right?

Well, research suggests that exercising is actually incredibly good for the neuroplasticity of your brain (growth of brain tissue and connections). The more you exercise the better you will begin to feel.

Adding this to your daily routine will create a surplus in the amount of mental energy you have to achieve your goals, but you have to remain consistent.

  • Journaling

I know this sounds messy but you’re going to have to get out a pen and paper so you can start expunging that negative self-talk!

Write down the first negative thought or limiting belief you have about yourself that comes to mind. Here are some important questions to ask yourself about this thought: “What is this thought rooted in?” It could be fear of the unknown, lack of trust in self, or just plain anxiety.

It’s important to note the negative thoughts you might have about yourself have nothing to do with who you actually are as a person and are only designed to keep you safe from stepping outside of your comfort zone.

  • Reading

You should choose to read books that are specifically for improving your mindset if you want to learn how to become more successful. Yes, you can read books about other topics as well, but I highly recommend you read some self-improvement or mindset books so you're more likely to remain disciplined with your goals.

Looking up information online is great but the benefits of reading an actual book for your brain are endless. We often spend a lot of the time in our day being consumed with technology whereas reading is one of the fastest ways to build and connect new brain cells. It also allows us to take a break from the instant gratification technology provides us.

  • Remain Disciplined

You have to realize that motivation is only a temporary feeling. In fact, you can pull motivation to get a task done directly out of yourself instead of relying on an outside source to provide you the motivation.

You won't always feel like you have the motivation to do something but you can always remain disciplined and consistent when it comes to your goals. Discipline and consistency always overpower motivation. Most people don't even begin to feel motivated until they've actually completed a task.

Motivation is for when you get cheated on and decide you have to become a superhero and have a glow-up on the spot, whereas discipline is a steady goal you’ve been working towards every day for the past month regardless of how you feel because you’re determined to get it done.

Now you should not only be able to easily pinpoint where you can improve your self-image, but also start to incorporate more activities into your daily life that will create a more focused and stress-free mind.

Which of these habits do you think will boost your success the most?
