As Mr. Shakespeare would put it: To write or not to write, that is the question?!

And here we are.

After a week on Medium and after reading/scanning a dozen or two articles fed to me by the engine, I’ve decided to join the overwhelming overflow — a flood if you will — of the Quantity over Quality momentum. Of course, the good old me is questioning the success of this endeavor; a poor Little Tony (I call it Little Tony, my good old me, my ego) has a hard time giving up the illusion of control even if it’s as insignificant as writing one article on Medium — as Gary Vee would say,

Stale Grut/nrkbeta

“Stop creating and start documenting.”

All right, I say.

Let’s carry on. Let‘s send Tony to the well-deserved corner and let’s give it a shot. But how it started, this quantity/quality challenge, you might be asking. Well, good old inspiration barged in while I read upon an article, the one among a dozen, the one whose author is claiming that he is giving up on perfecting his articles. In a manner of speaking, he was saying how he isn’t Musk and writing articles is not rocket science. But the biggest reason for him to be giving up is that nobody really cares about the thing so neither will he, no more, at least that is what he’s saying; but what about “caring is sharing,” Mr. Prahapati, cause everyone on Medium just love to share — duh.

Well, if lack of care is the name of the game then I’ll see to push aside all the resentment that Little Tony has against it, join the race, and hope that quantity will give birth to a quality — eventually, by the laws of the probability, and perhaps by the mercy of MCG (Medium Curator Gods), it has to happen. And no! I’m not crediting Medium for this idea, this strategy — the quantity=quality — no f.in way. It came with the territory. It’s the nature of the beast. The Content, remember, documenting vs creating?!

The f.in Content, man! You start building the vessel and it comes along.

Sometimes, if lucky, you’re a source to both, quantit&quality sequence, and perhaps that is the end game here.

What am I talking about?

Remember those four boys from Liverpool?

Yeah, those boys. The kings of quantity/quality equality — see what I did there. And their path of quantity/quality equality had taken them even further, over the known borders and beyond; it’s been proven.

Or if you are not a fan, maybe their counterpart would fit you better:

Yes, those, the naughty, little devil ones, who also produced a tone of content and would not give up the quality and searching/reaching the fine-tune of a single song — have you heard Richards talking about no less than 35 takes of that Sympathy tune before it finally clicked? And we know it did click, right?!

But how often quantity will give birth to quality really — perhaps, one in a 10 mil’ you’re thinking?! Well, at least we get to witness those ONES. Just take a look at Stephen’s career. He even calls himself King. Man, although his writing is not something that I am personally after either as a writer or as a reader (gimme some Kafka or Bukowski rather), this is not about me (he-he) or you, it’s about the facts, and whether we are fans or not, we have to tip a hat to this fella; the man is on the run, has been his whole life, Mr. King.

The Eloquent Peasant

But we all know who wears the crown today, right?! The quin among the kings!

Yeah, whether you like it or not, she is the man, this Lady — have you noticed that the Lady has capital L? Just like with Mr. King’s content, the content of Miss Swift isn’t really me — well, not entirely — but a little buddy of mine is really into it, into the content. And once I started paying attention…

Respect!

A hat tip again.

Yeah, quality, quantity, the content, practice, practice, practice.

To conclude: among the plethora of articles I’ve read recently, there was one by a lady who was proposing an idea of the least consuming time for writing a 1000 word article — sorry, can’t find a link for this one, but there is an abundance of similar ones, so knock yourself out - 30 min’ she said, and while using 2 devices simultaneously. Kinda like a 5 min’ chess game. But even though I love chess, a 5 min’ game was never my thing, so it didn’t happen for me. I failed on this one like a big-time fail, like a 4.5 hours fail to be accurate.

Oh, well.
