Who are you? What is your purpose in life? What in the world are you doing here and why do you do the things that you do? The answer: Who the heck knows? Chances are most people go through majority of their life asking these same questions over and over again. Some people turn to religion for answers, some people drive themselves crazy wondering, and some people turn to the stars.
As humans we spend every day trying to figure out this thing called life. It can be a big and scary thing. I, myself, find solace in knowing that I’m not alone in the way that I think, and feel, and react in life. I have my fellow Libras who give me comfort in knowing I am not alone in a lot of the quirks and nuances that I have. Granted there are no two people who are the same in this world, however there are many who share similar characteristics. Now, there are a lot of people out there who think that zodiac signs and horoscopes are all a bunch of hogwash for crazy people, and that is ok. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Those skeptics probably tend to be more of the practical Capricorn types. I, however, have found my astrological sign to be spot on with who I am no matter the source.
Libras are the only zodiac to yield an inanimate object as their sign. The scales couldn’t be more fitting for a libra. Our lives revolve around balance and the never-ending quest for that balance. While I am not an expert in all things libra, I can say that in my own personal life, when my scales are not balanced, turmoil and strife constantly consume me. My struggle lies in work-life balance. In my early adulthood I was living it up having the time of my life personally, but I was barely getting by in work constantly switching from job to job not finding my niche. Finally, at 26 I found my calling in firefighting, we will circle back around to that job and another libra characteristic in a moment. While I now had this amazing job, my relationship of 5 years and the family I had built crumbled before me. Either my personal life was amazing and my work life suffered, or my work life couldn’t be better and my personal life was in shambles. After reading more about my astrological sign and truly understanding this need for balance, I have recently been able to continue and grow in this amazing career I have and enjoy true happiness in my personal life.
Speaking of relationships and personal life, that brings us to another important characteristic of libras. We love to love! Libras tend to be amazing lovers but also hate being alone. Libras are social beings and desire the company of others. This doesn’t always mean big groups. A good cuddle session with a good soul can easily be the perfect situation for us. Give us a partner who is in live with the arts, any and all art, and a person who loves to travel and pure bliss and happiness is sure to follow.
The downside to loving a Libra is that we gravitate toward the finer things in life. You only live once and while we are here, we want to enjoy all that life has to offer at its fullest and best capacity. Expensive travel arrangements to all the top destinations of the world adorned with the finest accommodations are what we prefer in our lives.
With life and relationships and travel come decisions. This is the number 1 killer of a Libra. We are extremely indecisive beings. I will do anything to avoid making a decision. I will turn it around onto others to choose or just leave it up and the air and let the cards fall where they may. Be warned, though, that once a Libra DOES decide, it is set in stone. Any alterations to that choice after it has been made by a libra will lead to a battle zone. War is not a place that you want to go to with a libra. They can hold grudges for many years to follow. That’s not to say that we won’t forgive, because we are gentle souls but there is a good chance we won’t forget. The grudge will remain until justice is served. Going back to the root of a libra in the scales. There is also a social balance to life that a libra needs to maintain. We believe fully in fairness, justice, and equality in the universe. Peace is the ultimate goal. If you are rude, violent, or a loudmouth you have no place in a libra’s life. You might want to avoid a libra if you are the bossy type too. Libra’s do not like conformity and if you try to put a libra into a box or make them walk a specific line, chances are they will do the opposite just to spite you.
We are not all bad though. As promised, I bring my last libra characteristic back around to my career as a firefighter. Libra’s are truly gentle souls, who are caring and sharing individuals. As a libra I found that firefighting satisfies so many of my inherent needs. Firefighting is more than literally fighting fires. Actually, that is an exceedingly small part of what I do which is help people. 85% of my job consists of emergency medicine. I am also a paramedic and it is my job to help people in need or in pain on a daily basis. Helping others is one of the best characteristics of a libra. We love peace and harmony and I find that in helping others I can achieve that peace, balancing out my forever tipping scales.
Who am I? What is my purpose here? What on earth am I doing here and why do I do what I do? I don’t really know. I am just a nomad in this thing called life. Not lost. Not found. Just enjoying all that I take in, letting the stars guide my way.
