Nice To Meet You!

Hello there, everyone! I joined Vocal last year, but I haven't had the chance to become active until now. So, here I am. :) Whenever I join or become active on a website such as this one, I like to introduce myself. It gives my readers the chance to get to know the girl behind the keyboard.

I'll start with the basics. My name is Tammy. I'm 38 years old, and I live on the East Coast of the USA. To be more specific, I was born and raised in Maryland.

I've been writing since I could lift a pen. Well, close to that, anyway. As a child, I wrote short stories. As a teenager, I wrote poetry and stories. Now in adulthood, I am a freelance writer for various clients on different platforms. I've actually been a freelance writer since 2009, getting my feet wet on Associated Content (also known as Yahoo! Contributor Network). Aaah, those were the days, lol.

In addition, I've always enjoyed journaling and blogging. I have several physical and digital journals and planners. Whether I'm sharing my thoughts, creating a to-do list, or planning out my day, I love to express myself through written or typed words.

One of the reasons I have joined websites such as Vocal Media, MyLot, and Medium is to have a place to express myself. When I write for my clients, I need to follow specific instructions for each one. I'm also writing in various niches, from apartment living to buyer's guides. When I write on other websites, such as this one, I have the opportunity to be creative or personal. Basically, this is my outlet to just be myself.

Okay, so what else is there to me besides writing?

Well, for starters, I'm very family-oriented. I think most of the people I spend time with are family, and this includes the friends that I consider to be family. I'm a devoted Auntie (and recently, a Great Aunt), and I help take care of our family's pets (mostly the dogs on my end). Unfortunately, I have lost both of my parents (Dad in 2013 and Mom in 2021), so that's bound to come up in some of my stories.

I love listening to music, and my all-time favorite band is New Kids On The Block. Yes, they're still together and going strong since reuniting in 2008. Of course, if I had a nickel for every person who asked me if the band is still together, I could afford their VIP package next tour. ;)

I'm also a professional wrestling fan, mainly WWE. Nowadays, I only watch it weekly off and on, but when I do catch it, I usually enjoy the show. My all-time favorite is Shawn Michaels, but there are many other past and present wrestlers who have my support.

My favorite show ever is The Golden Girls. It's basically my comfort show. It helps me to relax or boost my mood. I love quoting it out of nowhere or in daily conversation, lol.

I love Autumn. The scenery. The events. The cozy weather. All of it. I'm also a fan of September to January, just for the events and holidays alone. However, I'm usually ready for spring after the Christmas season is over.

I deal with anxiety, but I have it under control for the most part. That doesn't mean I don't have my down moments, especially when you pair my anxiety with grief, but I do what I can to get through them. I'm so lucky, and grateful, to have a great support system.

I'm easy to get along with. It's rare I won't get along with someone, and when that does happen, I know how to be civil. I would rather protect my peace than engage in drama or conflict.

Welp, I guess that's it. I know this was lengthy, but I think stories need to be at least 600 words. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm glad I could become active on this platform, and I hope to meet other creators along this journey. :)
