New Year’s Goals — 7 Ways To Make 2022 Better Than 2021
Looking back on the year behind you and looking ahead to the year ahead is likely on your mind. The beginning of the year is such a great time to take stock in yourself and take note of everything you did previously. I’d like to challenge you to think of everything you could do and set that as your goal for the new year. Sure, there will be things beyond your control, but focus on what you can do. This way, you’ll truly be embracing one of the best New Year’s resolutions — setting goals and accomplishing them!

Here are my top 7 ways to make 2022 better than 2021.
1: Write down your goals
One of the most effective ways to achieve your goals is to write them down. I’m not talking about a simple list of resolutions you make and then forget. I’m talking about a process called goal setting. The goal-setting theory suggests that if you write down your goals and plan out how you’ll reach them, you’re more likely to accomplish them than if you don’t. This is because writing down your goals makes them more tangible, which makes it easier to visualize the steps required to reach them. Writing gives your goals greater significance, which can motivate you more than just thinking about them — especially if they’re big ones. As a result, writing down goals puts you on a path toward achieving them.
2: Spend more time with family and friends, and less time on the Internet.
A recent report from the Pew Research Center found that the average American spends nearly 10 hours a day plugged in to their digital devices. We don’t have to be numbers crunchers to know that’s way too much time spent online. In fact, I’m challenging you to spend less time online in 2022 and more time with those you love.
3: Learn something new
One of the most common New Year resolutions is to learn something new. This is a great way to keep yourself motivated and even build a skill that could one day help you land an amazing job.
some examples:
I’m going to learn how to use Photoshop so I can edit my photos better. I’m going to read more books this year to expand my knowledge of other subjects besides programming. I want to be able to play the guitar by the end of 2022. I want to go skydiving! Whatever you plan on learning this year, be sure to stick to it.
4: Remove one bad habit
If you’re like most people, you probably have a few bad habits that could use some breaking. Maybe you eat too much junk food, or watch too much TV. Maybe you check your Facebook page or Twitter feed too often. It’s not easy to change these behaviors, but it’s important — if only because bad habits can lead to weight gain, poor diet and other health problems.
5: Surround yourself with inspirational people
When it comes to success, surrounding yourself with the right people is one of the most important things that you can do. If you want to be successful in the new year, make sure that you are hanging out with inspirational people who will help you get to where you want to go. Trying to succeed on your own is one of the biggest mistakes that you can make, because it means that you are not going to have anyone around to support and encourage you when things start to get tough.
6: Start simple, start small
In my experience, people are either highly ambitious and think they have to crush their goals immediately or they are not ambitious at all. The latter is the reason why I put this post together. How to achieve your goals over time? Start simple, start small! It doesn’t matter if you want to learn a new language, start a blog or launch a new business. Start small and build your way up. If you’re interested in writing, start by writing one blog post a week. If you’re interested in coding, start learning one new skill at a time. The idea behind this is consistency. As the saying goes “ Rome wasn’t built in a day “. It takes time to learn new skills and build something great. You don’t need to be super ambitious right away, just start simple, start small and work your way up!
7: Be realistic
Be realistic about your goals. Not only will you set yourself up for failure, but you’ll also lose motivation and interest. After all, what’s the point of setting a goal if it’s not going to come true? “Think big,” some people say, but it’s better to be realistic than to set goals that aren’t likely to happen. Take time to write down your goals and then look at them with a critical eye. Do they fall into these categories: Too big: If your goal is to lose 100 pounds in one month, you’re being unrealistic by suggesting something that isn’t going to happen. Smaller goals are more attainable, and the sense of accomplishment you get when you reach them can help keep you motivated as you move on to bigger wins later on.
Stay on track with YOUR goals. Make some realistic plans, and if you slip off track, don’t lose hope. Nobody is perfect: we fail, we learn from failure, and we come back stronger than ever.
