Once your motivation starts to sky rocket, believe me, it is a beautiful thing. When motivation kicks in, there is nothing you cannot do, right? It is addictive!!!

I wanted that feeling more and more day after day. Once I started, I wanted to learn more and more about the gym, learn more about how to continue this wonderful feeling. What each machine did I wanted to learn all about the different workouts. What this exercise did for a certain body part. What is he doing this? Why is she doing that? I was addicted and was loving it.

I started looking into different fitness classes. Spin class was my favorite. You mean, I can ride a bike that goes no where and that would get me into shape and help with my fitness? Well, sign me up!! I don't want this feeling to stop. I started looking for more education on fitness. This is back in 2000, there was no YouTube back then. Next best thing were magazines.

I found 2 that did the trick for me. Muscle and Fitness and Flex were my go to "fitness instructors". After some trail and error, I realized that a good workout split for me was chest/tri's, back/bi's, legs/abs and 1 day for cardio. Yep, that was it for me. I also, figured out that if I kept a routine just for 2-3 weeks and then switched it up, it helped me grow faster. I would use different workouts from different superstars. For example, a 2-3 week routine looked like this, Arnold chest routine withe Jay Cutler leg routine, Flex Wheeler back routine, arms from someone else.... and so on. After 2-3 weeks, I switch up people and workout routines.

Summer time in Germany and my motivation is at an all time high!!! Until.... winter time in Germany came. What happened? Why do I feel like this? More important, why don't I fell like working out? Now, I'm confused. I haven't felt this since I starting my fitness journey. Why now? It was time for another lesson. I talked to some of the older guys and they all came to the same conclusion...my dedication was never tested until now. Now, the weather is not favorable. It's cold outside maybe even snow on the ground. Whatever it is, it's weather that I do not like, so my motivation low now. They also said, now is when I see if I really like this fitness journey or if it's just a fad.

This entire time, I was thinking it was motivation that kept me going and it would be motivation that would continue to keep me in this fitness game. Damn, was I wrong. Motivation is great and all but it is your dedication to something that keeps you going through the good and bad days.

I talked about fitness because that's what I can easily relate to. You can put this into whatever part of your life you want. It is your dedication to what you love that gets you up everyday, whether you want to or not. You wake up tired, sore, slightly under the weather and don't want to move. You think about that one thing or that person, or your kids, you investments, your family, your WHY. That is what you are dedicated to and that will be the reason you get up anyway and go do whatever it is you are supposed to do.

My kids are my WHY. they are the reason I do what I do. Why I blog. Why I am an entrepreneur. When I don't feel like it or not motivated to do anything, it's them I think about. My dedication to them (my kids) is what keeps me going.
