Mia And The Magic Of Never Giving Up

A Girl With A Big Dream

By Hamid Hussain ShahPublished 9 months ago 3 min read

Mia was a young girl who lived in a small town. She had a big dream — she wanted to become a great painter.

Every day after school, Mia sat by her window and painted pictures of trees, rivers, and mountains.

She used bright colors and wide smiles on the faces she drew.

But there was one problem: Mia’s paintings were not perfect. Sometimes the trees looked crooked, and sometimes the faces looked funny.

When Mia showed her paintings at school, some kids laughed.

“Your tree looks like a cloud!” one boy said.

“Your mountain looks like a triangle!” a girl giggled.

Mia felt her heart sink. But deep down, she whispered to herself, "I will not stop painting."

Finding A Friend Who Believed In Her

One afternoon, after a long day at school, Mia sat alone on the swings at the park. She held her sketchbook close to her chest.

An old man sitting on a nearby bench noticed her. He had kind eyes and a gentle smile.

"Why so sad, little artist?" he asked.

Mia shyly showed him her painting. "Everyone says I am not good," she said softly.

The old man looked carefully at her work. "I see colors full of life," he said. "I see a tree dancing in the wind. I see a mountain full of dreams."

Mia's eyes grew wide. "Really?" she asked.

"Yes," the man said. "You have magic in your hands. You only need to keep practicing."

Practice Makes You Better

From that day on, Mia painted even more.

Every morning before school, she drew small sketches.

Every afternoon after homework, she painted bigger pictures.

Every evening, she tried new styles and mixed new colors.

Sometimes her drawings still looked strange.

Sometimes her colors were too dark or too light.

But Mia kept trying.

She remembered what the old man said: "Magic grows with practice."

The Big Art Contest

One day, the town announced a big art contest.

Everyone could enter, even children. The winner’s painting would be shown in the town hall for everyone to see.

Mia was excited but also scared.

"What if they laugh at my painting again?" she worried.

But she took a deep breath and said, "I will never know if I don't try."

Mia chose her favorite scene — a sunset over a quiet river with birds flying home. She painted carefully, mixing soft oranges, deep blues, and shiny gold.

When she finished, she smiled.

It was not perfect.

But it was full of love, hope, and dreams.

The Day Of The Contest

On the day of the contest, Mia walked into the big hall with her painting in her hands.

Paintings from all over town were on the walls — flowers, castles, forests, and even funny cartoons.

Mia placed her painting quietly on a table.

She looked around and saw so many beautiful pieces. For a moment, she thought about running away.

"I'm not good enough," a small voice in her head said.

But then she remembered: "Magic grows with practice."

She stayed.

A Surprise Announcement

Later that afternoon, the judges walked around the hall. They whispered to each other and nodded.

Finally, the head judge, a woman with silver hair, stood up and spoke.

"We are amazed by all the talent we see here," she said. "But one painting touched our hearts in a very special way."

Mia held her breath.

"The winner is... the sunset over the river!"

Mia blinked. That was her painting!

Everyone clapped. Mia walked shyly to the front as her teacher, her parents, and even the old man from the park cheered loudly.

Lessons From Mia’s Journey

That day, Mia learned something very important:

You don't have to be perfect to be amazing.

If you keep trying, you will get better.

Believe in your dreams, even when others don't.

A kind word can change someone's life.

The magic is inside you — you just have to let it shine.

Conclusion: Never Give Up On Your Dream

Mia’s journey taught everyone in her town that dreams come true not because you are perfect, but because you are brave enough to keep going.

So, if you have a dream — to sing, to dance, to draw, to build, or anything else — never give up.

You might not be the best today.

You might make mistakes.

People might laugh.

But if you keep practicing, believing, and smiling through the hard days, one day you will look back and say:

"I'm so glad I never gave up."
