What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Tommy Driscoll. I am originally from Connecticut but have lived in a multiple places. These include South Carolina, Florida and California. I currently live in Los Angeles.
Why do you love what you do?
As a writer and producer my job is to help artists share their stories with the world through lyrics and music production. We get to talk about life moments in our own way which I love. I am always surprised how many people relate to the songs we write after every release and that is definitely one of my favorite things. I would say the all time high from this career is hearing my songs performed live and watching the audience move to the music and sing the lyrics. It does not matter how many concerts I go to, it never gets old for me.
What makes you different?
What’s really cool about music is that there’s no clear path. You don’t have to go to college for it or pass a bunch of exams. Everyone has their own story and is ultimately just trying to write great music that speaks to them. For me, I have a background in business and finance. That’s definitely uncommon to hear from artists and songwriters. It has helped me navigate the industry a lot.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years time I see myself well accomplished in music. I hope to have multiple platinum records and Billboard charts. I am constantly working towards these goals.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
Music has always been at the forefront of my life but it’s really important to me that I find separation between my career and my life outside of work. I believe who you are as a person matters more than any industry awards or accomplishments. In life I hope to help and give to others as much as I can. I also hope to travel and learn from other cultures and adapt some of their ways into my own life. How other people live is really fascinating to me.
What do you bring to your industry?
The music industry is really interesting because there are a lot of talent people trying to do the same thing but the truth is they won’t. What I mean by that is even if two people have the same exact training the art they create will still be completely different. I think that’s really cool. So to answer this question I would say I bring myself. I’m the only person who can make music the way I make it. I also help bring positivity to the industry. With so many people trying to be the biggest artist, writer or producer it’s often labeled a cut throat industry and I try to keep things light and just enjoy the process.
What do you want to be remembered by?
The reason I create music is to allow others to feel less alone in what they are going through. Happy or sad. This could mean that someone is going through a rough breakup and can listen to a song I wrote and feel better about it. Someone could be having one of the most successful years of their life and listen to something I wrote and feel even more joy and excitement. If one person can hear a song I wrote and feel better about their situation then I’m happy with that. I would love to be remembered for having fun creating the art that I loved.
