Meet music artist Shawn Lemelle

What’s your artist name and where are you  from?

My name is Shawn Lemelle. I’m from a city called San Jose, California. It’s about forty minutes south of San Francisco.   

Why do you love music? 

Music to me is a real life mood creator. With so many different genres and music types, there’s literally something for whatever my vibe is. I feel like there’s nothing else on the planet that can do that. The fact that you can play a song and it makes you feel a certain way is powerful to me. It connects people on a different level. 

What makes you different as a music artist? 

I feel like what makes me different is my ability to overcome my adversity. I actually have a severe speech impediment that currently about only 1% of the population has, and because of this I’ve had to overcome a ton of obstacles, block out the naysayers, and show the world what I can do. A lot of people told me that I couldn’t make music because of my stutter. A lot of people told me that I wouldn’t fit in the industry and that I should quit. I say forget that! Forget what “people” are saying. I had to ask myself what am I saying. It starts with me believing in me, because if you don’t believe in yourself nobody will, period.  

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 

In 5 years I see myself being smarter, wiser, and just all out becoming a better version of myself. More life,  more love, surpassing goals and setting bigger ones. Making sure I’m good, the family and the team good. Getting a lot more traveling done, possibly having a few kids if I find the right woman lol. Basically just being more intentional about how I spend my time, because I realize I’m going to die one day. Like Drake said, “I’m here for a good time not a long time”.

What do you want to accomplish in life? 

A few Grammies would definitely be nice, but ultimately I would like to leave a legacy and carve out a little space on the planet to call my own, pass it down to my future kids and break some of these generational curses. Pretty much create my own ecosystem. Most of all I want to accomplish longevity in the music world, I want people to still be listening to my music a hundred years from now. I want that timeless immortality all the greats seem to have. 

What do you bring to the music world? 

Authenticity. What you see is what you get, and I think that’s something the people can relate to. Good or bad I’m always me. I give 1000% and leave it all out on the court. I’m far from perfect but I’m always real. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I bring me to the music world. I bring Shawn Lemelle, and there will never be another me. I’m a one of one.

What do you want to be remembered by? 

I want people to remember me not only for my music of course, but my mindset as well. I truly believe that I have the ability to create my own world. When it’s all said and done I want people to say, “Shawn Lemelle really had his way with this whole life thing”. At the end of the day, if my life/journey on this earth inspires just one person to believe in themselves and change their life for the better, that’s all the remembrance I need.
