Looking for a new creator to support? Anamesa has just the one! Meet Whitney, a social media content creator who is building her fanbase as we speak. Whitney's content is humorous, witty, talented and showcases her genuine, high spirited personality. Whitney is part of the Anamesa generation and is a great representation for our generation.

"I’m a 24 year old who worked really hard to make the most of my time while in college and build up my professional career (after having some bad high school experiences both socially and academically) and now that I’m happy, have a job that I love, and am the most secure with myself that I’ve ever been, I’m trying to learn how to have fun again as well as keep my mental health in check! I try to create funny, relatable, interesting, and helpful content based on the experiences I’ve had and subjects I find interesting through podcasting, video, and writing.

What is your podcast about?

“'Whatever I feel like talking about this week!'” That’s in the intro to my podcast. My podcast is called "Keep Up Radio" and I go over topics mainly pertaining to everyday life and pop culture. One week I may get political (I always deliver the objective facts first, then I get opinionated), the next week I’ll be interviewing a celebrity hairstylist from LA, and the week after that I may be doing a biography on a TikTok star!

I make the podcast episode titles very specific and my hope is that one day I’ll make an episode about a topic someone really wants to hear about, and then they fall in love with the podcast style and continue to listen and maybe learn about something they otherwise may have not bothered to look into."

"When I first discovered podcasts I immediately fell in love! It’s this format of media that is typically raw and unfiltered and I love that! I have so many podcasts that I’ve listened to and enjoyed over the years! I would say listening to those people and watching them be successful and share interesting and important stories definitely inspired me to start my own.

I went to school for communication but focused my internships/extracurricular activities on marketing and from 2017 - 2019 my full-time job was as a Digital Marketer. Through all that I learned I just had a love for planning and creating content. I had tried doing youtube for a bit but I felt I had niched my content down too much so I wanted to try something new in a different format and I decided on podcasting!

What is it that motivates you to be successful?

I want to make people feel good. Whether that be through jokes, sharing helpful information, or just by sharing an entertaining video. For a long time I did not feel good about myself and found myself judging others. But I eventually learned that stemmed from insecurities I had and me listening to the opinions of people who probably had their own insecurities as well. So I just want to really be this positive source of entertainment for people while promoting that we should be building each other up, having real conversations, and not let our insecurities cause us to tear each other down.

What is it that got you into making your own videos?

"I’ve always loved making videos, dancing, and singing! When I was in middle school I loved making lip sync music videos but was way too afraid to post them anywhere. But now I’m a lot more confident and I’m trying to build up my brand and business. TikTok seemed like a way to build up my brand and business while still having fun!"

How do you decide what to film?

"If I see a dance video or trend that I love I will usually do that! Or I’ll have an original content Idea and try to bring that to life in the form of a TikTok.

Sometimes I do have a mental battle with myself on “should I post this?” depending on the dance or trend because I’ve created this professional brand for myself within my community as the hard working young professional who TikToks! As an employee I want to show that even though I’m 24 and like TikToking and Reality TV, I’m also professional, hardworking, and you will not want to lose me as an employee. I feel like growing up I was told you can’t do both but I’m trying to change that narrative. "

What is your favorite type of Tik Toks to make?

"I love transition TikToks! Like going from just lounging to glam! Social media can be very polished at times and I like to show that I’m not always glammed out and that it’s a process to get there. But I also love that once I’m glammed out I’m doing the most so to speak!"

Any tips for making quality Tik Toks? How to grow on Tik Tok?

"In terms of quality I would say good lighting is a must! Stand in front of a window, go outside, or buy a ring light! In terms of how to grow, TikTok is unique because there are many avenues of growth in my opinion. If you have 1 really good video go viral, that can take you from 100 followers to 10,000 literally overnight! I also think you can niche down and make one or a few certain types of videos and you will eventually build an audience based on that. Lastly, hopping on a trend when it’s early is another one of my go to strategies!"

What does the support of your podcast and content on social media from others mean to you?

"It truly means THE WORLD to me when someone thinks the content I’ve created is funny, interesting, or helpful. I love getting messages from people and hearing that they liked something I created because it keeps me motivated. I use to be extremely shy and never really expressed myself. And anytime I did express myself it seemed like people thought I was weird. So to have gotten to a point in my life where now I create content for myself because I like it or I just really want to put it out there, and to get feedback from people saying they genuinely enjoy it, really means so much and I’m just happy I can improve someones day or expose them to something that brought them clarity or insight."

Any specific influencer strategies you’d like to share that have helped you?

"Be yourself. Being myself has always gotten me success online when it comes to the content I create. Everytime I’m authentic and just share a story that is the truth, or make a joke that is based on something I’ve experienced, it ALWAYS performs well. There are people out there that can relate to you, and when you can express those common thoughts or opinions in a creative way, that will help you build your audience.

If you’ve ever thought about creating content, or starting youtube, or an Instagram page, a blog etc, just do it! It can be scary and feel like it’s been done before, you might fail, or no one will listen, but I say do it anyway! You're the only version of you and through that alone you can share things from a perspective no one else can."
