If you maximize social media, you can forget about curation
Get more traffic from your social media.
Are you a beginner to freelance writing, and hoping to earn a few extra bucks from it? Then I am sure you would have read every piece of writing on how to make money from writing online. Many of which told you how the author made $100+ dollars only after a few months. Then it would continue to say how they did it and what they think you should do.
Well, this is not 1 of those articles. Like you, I read those same articles and I wanted to be like the persons who authored them but I am not. But I am still working on it though.
How I started using Social Media?
I officially began my "writing online for money" job in September of this year. I needed to earn a few more dollars to help with Med school. Even though I was trying to make quick money I also like writing, it was a constructive way to vent all my frustrations.
Unfortunately, it has been 30 days, well past 30 days, and I still haven't made that $1000 I thought I would be making. That was when I started my own trend and I started doing things my own way.
By the way, I love writing for Vocal because I have made more than I have made in 1 1/2 years on my blog.
This is when I turned to social media to bring in some traffic. Even after SEO, keywords, and 1000+ words I still wasn't getting traffic. So I joined Facebook, Twitter, IG, and Quora. And that was when everything changed.
Since starting, I have noticed a change in traffic flow from 1 to 8 in only 1 week. Now that isn't much but it is 700% better than where I was. Today the 8 days traffic flow jumped to 13. And I feel like things are beginning to look up.
What I have learned from this journey so far?
Don't be ashamed or discouraged if you haven't seen results yet. The truth is it will take time for you to get the position where you are making $1000+. I have chalked things up to achieving my goal of $1000+ after 12 months of writing. Let me explain why I say this.
In the first 6 months: Is when you develop your art as a writer. During this time you will:
- Learn to write articles that would catch eyes.
- Reach and establish an audience.
- Share your articles far and wide, especially on Quora
- Learn to use optimizing tools in your writing.
- Build an audience on social media.
- Build patience and learn what is good for you.
This is more important than earning money right away because this will help you to establish and keep the income rolling in after the first 6 months. This doesn't mean you wouldn't make any money. there will be a few dollars trickling in.
In the next 6 months: This is the money moves are made. After 6 months of writing and developing writing skills. My writing is still developing though. In the last 6 months these are a few things you should do:
- Find the right affiliate program to promote.
- Learn from the mistakes made.
- Use constructive criticism to develop your writing.
This is the way to the goal of $1000+ monthly.
My Conclusion
Writing for money will take time. That is a fact, but from the very start put your best foot forward each time you publish an article. Read comments, reach out to your audience and make adjustments. Never give up on the dream to earn passive income from the 1 hobbit that is worth doing, (this is my opinion). Even though 12 months sounds long, in no time you will be making good money.
Whatsoever, thy hands findeth to do, do it with all thy might, for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave wherever thy goeth.
