How to Get What You Want Out of Life
How to Get What You Want Out of Life
If you are interested in improving yourself, you can spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to get what you want in life. Most of the time, it is not a lack of opportunities to prevent you from getting what you want, but it is your perceived limitations. That is why they say that you should go out of your way to fulfill the desires of your heart. So, how do you get what you want out of life? Here are eight ways.
1. Be courageous.
To get what you want, you have to get out of your comfort zone. That is true at work, in love, and in all aspects of life. When I think of the happy couples I know, for example, they got together and did something that scared them, like an improv class or a single vacation.
When we stretch ourselves in this way, we open up endless opportunities and possibilities. However, those doors remain closed to us if we stick to our routine and refuse to take risks and try something new.
2. Tell people what you want.
Ask for what you want and you can get it. Don't ask and the answer is always. When you tell people what you want, you are inviting them into your world which makes them feel like they are investing in your success. Now that they know what you want, they can help you reach your goals.
Sharing your heart's desires with someone else makes those goals seem real and achievable. Writing them down achieves the same result. Therefore, write down your life goals at the same time telling others about them to double your chances of success.
3. Focus on something else.
Thinking of others is the right thing to do, regardless of your motives. And we should never help by expecting to return. But focusing on others rather than on yourself can also benefit you. The law of retaliation means that what you release comes back to you. Whether that comes from the same person who helped him, or elsewhere, is a fundamental law of the universe. No matter what the purpose, people tend to remember that you helped them and want to return the favor.
4. Recognize your strengths and weaknesses.
We’ve all heard what you can do or what you put your mind to. However, that is not always the case. If you are 5'5 ″ you are unlikely to be a star basketball player. Knowing what you know will help you improve your skills in areas that give you success. Instead of knocking on a closed door, you will easily press open the one that allows your unique skills and abilities.
5. Put your feelings first.
One of the biggest reasons we set goals is because we believe they will make us feel a certain way. She is happy, proud, happy, accomplished. But when we reach the goal and those feelings do not follow, we feel embarrassed and go to the next goal to fulfill them.
What if we have to set goals in the way we want to feel? That could mean that you can feel a certain way without having to experience it with random metrics. Tony Robbins says that emotions drive us, so if you put emotions first, your positive attitude will help you to achieve what you want in life.
6. Make awesome requests.
A common negotiation strategy is to ask for more than you want, while others say the request should be too big and make you click a little. You may not find it in that initial request, but if you follow through with a little need, you will get a yes. And that second request was very much in line with what you wanted, anyway.
7. Use semantics.
Use words to benefit when you ask for something. When we sell a product, for example, we are talking about the offer rather than the product being sold. This gives the consumer the impression that he is getting something (your product) rather than losing something (his money).
8. EXPECT to get what you want.
Psychologist Jennice Vilhauer says we do it based on what we expect rather than what we want. There is often a connection between our real desires and what we expect to achieve. In an effort to protect us from the pain of embarrassment, our unconscious mind will lower our expectations and we will act in harmony with those rather than pursuing our grand dreams.
Expect something better than what you have already experienced than the automatic thoughts of your conscious mind. Elite players do this by seeing themselves win a big game. When you change your expectations you change your life by doing things that support you to achieve your goals.
