Let’s talk innovation and the courage it takes to make your ideas a reality. If you want to change the world, even your corner of it, you have to be ready to run into change, not away from it.

Innovation happens when you smash two ideas together in wild new ways and see what happens. It doesn’t always have to be pretty and it doesn’t always have to make sense. But it does need to be bold. Innovation is the spark that drives progress forward — whether it’s for progress in your industry, science, or art. It’s what propels people from non-conforming thinking to a fulfilling new form of living — whether it’s creating something new out of existing ideas and concepts or inventing something almost entirely never heard of before.

But to get to this place, you are going to have to face some obstacles and challenges. And that’s going to require courage.

The best way to avoid becoming paralyzed by fear is to run toward change, not from it. Change is scary, trust me, I get that. Whatever your big idea is, it might seem impossible or even frightening to think about, but it’s going to upset the status quo of something else. This means you’re going to have to face change head-on.

But it’s essential to face these limiting thoughts for what they are, limits on your potential, and to find a way through them, over them, or around them.

When faced with a new idea or concept, it’s easy to get caught up in it. And it’s easy to feel frightened by it. Making ideas a reality takes a lot of work and a lot of moving parts. Each step along the way can feel overwhelming, and that leads to all kinds of fears popping up.

If you want to do awesome things in your future, you have to rise to meet your dreams and ideas head-on right here in the present, and you have to be up to the hard work of making them a reality. Are you?

Use what you have to build what you want

Life doesn’t come with a complete set of instructions, and that’s not a bad thing.

The path to a fulfilled life isn’t always linear — it’s often bumpy and sometimes filled with twists and turns, that’s why it’s important to learn how to go MacGiver on your life and use what you have to build what you want. You remember MacGiver right? Not the new one, I’m talking the old school show, where the guy could find his way out of Alcatraz with the right tape and a coat hanger. You have to learn to think and act differently if you want different results in life.

The key to living a successful life isn’t about how much money you have, but what you’re able to do with what you have. Success comes from seizing opportunities when they come along, and never letting an opportunity catch you being lazy, or unprepared. This means keeping yourself working on the things you want from life, fusing action with your ambition.

When the going gets tough, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut — to begin focusing on what you don’t have instead of what you do have. Don’t do that. Be flexible, adapt, figure it out and boss up. Start with something small, then repeat, repeat, repeat and then with momentum on your side, do something bigger. Success is sometimes just a matter of momentum.

Work smart, work hard, and put in the hours required to achieve the results you want without taking shortcuts along the way. Do that, do it again, and make it a habit and you’ll find yourself well on your way to reaching the success you’re after.
