The toughest climbs have the greatest views

I remember when I first discovered vocal.media...

The year was 2018, Donald Trump was halfway through his rein as President, My wife and I were on the verge of separating for the second time, my daughter had just turned 2 years old, and I had finally decided what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I made several different attempts to establish my life's career but each resulted in one disappointing failure after another. Then finally, as if in some kind of light bulb over head moment, I came to the realization that throughout the course of my entire life, I have had a passion for writing. I had always been the wormiest of book worms and on their had been a multitude of occasions where an idea for a potential book manifested within my mind. I even remember attempting to actually begin writing them on one or two occasions. However, It wasn't until that pivotal awakening moment in 2018 that my pursuit to become both a famous and successful writer/author evolved into a serious endeavor.

I knew that I primarily desired to have my work published online and attempting to do that would be what I considered my "start line". Unfortunately however, I didn't discover Vocal right out of the gate. I spent the entirety of the first several nights awake and focused on discovering any outlet that would allow me to improve my skills whilst compensating me for doing so as well. In my crusade, I came across a variety of different websites that appeared at first glance to be what I had been searching for. c, to my disappointment either they weren't what I was looking for or even worse, I wasn't what they were looking for... Eventually I came across this website known as Textbroker. Available only to American citizens, they paid writers to compose the material that their paying customers requested them to create. Decent income for any writer just getting their feet on the ground and I made a good amountdof money writing for them. Assignment supervisors would even assist me with improving my craft which proved to have a positive affect on my capabilities. In spite of these benefits, there was one issue that I couldn't ever force out of my thoughts...

I wasn't allowed to write about any of the topics that I wanted to; taking away one of the biggest reasons I chose to do this for a living.., the freedom. We writers have by far one of the greatest privileges on earth within one aspect of what we do. The privilege of having the complete freedom of deciding what it is we want to write about. Allow me to elaborate what that means because this premise is far more complex than some people realize.

As a writer I can choose whether I want to create content that is either nonfiction, completely fictional, or even both if I want; like when authors take a real event and implement some fictional variables in order to provide a more engaging story to their readers. If I choose to undertake a project that's nonfiction, than I have the freedom to choose any nonfictional topic you can possibly think of. As a result this gives me the freedom to essentially educate myself in depth about anything I want. Meaning, if your curiosity and desire to learn is still raging like when you were a child, than that's far from a bad arrangement. On the other hand, if your passion derives from creating works of fiction, the freedom that coincides with that is even greater. Essentially as fictional writer your probably the closest a human can get to being an actually god. What I mean is that you can create people, places, items stories set in periods of time either millions of years before yesterday or after tomorrow. You can construct entire universes for your readers to immerse themselves into and explore on their own. Just describing it now is giving me chills, it's hard to imagine why everyone doesn't share this passion with me.

Despite the dozens of websites I had experimented with, I had failed to find one that invoked writers, such as myself, with the amount of freedom that caused them to become writers in the first place. That was until I came across Vocal.media, once I became a member of this community of writers, it's safe to say I found my home for the long run. They truly gave me the ability, nay, the freedom to write about anything I decided to set my mind on. Almost as if I was just a kid writing for himself in his journal at home. T make matters even more amazing, they recorded every single time one of my projects had been read by someone out in the world and even paid me money for them doing so. What seemed like just a few pennies originally, quickly grew to an amount 1 dollar bills, than 5's, than 10's and so on...

Now I have not only passed my 10k milestone for amount of reads I've gained across all of my projects. I've made it nearly halfway to the 20k milestone before I even got the chance to finish writing this article celebrating the first 1ok... Which stands as an important lesson to every single one of you writers that are just joining our community here at Vocal. It might seem like pocket change at the start of your careers but as long as your consistently grinding and beating at your craft without giving even a thought to pulling back.., than one day you'll reach the level I am at and can than take a moment to admire not only the view from how far you've come but also the path you paved in order to get here.
