Getting to know music artist Petey Pebz

What’s your artist name and where are you from?

For those who don’t know, I go by Petey Pebz and I’m from the Bronx, representing Uptown. Eastchester Gardens to be exact.

Why do you love music?

I love music because of its ability to reach people. It serves as an outlet for expression for me. For example, when I’m making beats, subconsciously, my mood affects the tone of my instrumental’s melody or bassline and kinda controls where the vybe goes. The same thing applies when I’m creating a record. To me, music is positive energy in its purest form. Whether it’s drill or country or EDM, there’s music out there for people to turn to for anything and everything; Creators and listeners alike.

What makes you different as a music artist?

What I’d like to believe sets me apart is the fact that I don’t stay in the box. I’m much much more than a rapper when it comes to artistry. I’m well rounded. My open mind and my ear for music has developed a certain clairvoyance which helped me mold my sound. I’ve always had an idea of how I wanted to go about things but I also felt ahead of my time for real. Like since I’ve been home, the music I’m hearing now, especially in New York, I feel like the rappers on my side had that energy before it was a thing; And mind you, I got knocked in the beginning of 2016. The melodic flows and the catchy hooks before New York locked their new focus, I was doing that stuff for years. But I’ve got my own sound. When you hear me playing, if you know me, it’s “Oh thats Pebz!” If you don’t, it’s more like “Who’s that?” because I don’t sound like anybody.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years, I see myself owning a few properties and well on my way to setting up generational wealth for me and my family and also my friends. I see music being my lane and my ticket out of a tough place. I really can’t call it though. But I do know that wherever I am in life, it’s going to be better than my past. It already is, but if it’s up to me, it gets better. I’m a hustler. My drive is unmatched. Talk to me in 5 years and we can look back at this conversation from a higher platform! Lol

What do you want to accomplish in life?

I want to accomplish everything I can in life. I wanna set goals and reach them. I want to tap into my potentials and realize them. I ain’t have everything I wanted growing up. I just want to be able to do what I want, when I want. I want to realize stability and then some. Nobody in my family is rich. Nobody from the block got rich. I want to break the cycle and stamp generational wealth into my future!

What do you bring to the music world?

I bring good energy to the music world! My idc style is pretty contagious and that’s the way you’re supposed to be with music. Like what you like and be alright with it! Just know, I’m gunna bring the vibes with me! Unwavering good vibes!

What do you want to be remembered by?

I want to be remembered by my happy-go-lucky attitude and my drive. I want people to know how hard I worked to get where I’m at and to also take notice of the smile on my face the whole time!
