Ernest Sylvester Watkins IV, famously known as Ernest IV, is a professional musical artist and songwriter from Philadelphia,PA but resides in Smyrna, DE.

What makes you different as a person and as an artist?

Well, honestly I would have to say as a person I’ve always been kind of reserved/. Until I found something I enjoyed, that’s when I seemed to burst out of my shell. Slowly becoming the person I want to be and that is shown in my music. The people in my life that I meet along the way ,gives me my content. Whether the encounter is positive or negative But also what drives me to make music is my constant journey to loving myself the way that I should. That’s what I think makes me different as an artist. My voice from a different perspective, but also relatable in a way.

What do you want to accomplish in life?

I would like to accomplish so much in life. My main plan is to reach a level of success that will make life easier for my family.By also in turn doing what I love. I actually want my music to touch people’s lives, not jus saying anything on a record. Reaching goals like winning awards and plaques are nice, but honestly I just want to be happy and see the people around me share the same joy. Like J.Cole says “what’s money without happiness”. I believe that 100 percent. So at the end of the day, what I want to accomplish in life is to find who I am and find why GOD put me here on this planet.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I see myself at a higher level in life. My financial status to be in better shape. I see myself moved out of the house. Most likely traveling the world. Exploring new places. Places that I have never been. Places that I always wanted to see. In about five years I would be 27. Hopefully, I would have the pleasure of meeting my inspirations that set the blueprint to my sound and overall outlook on music. Artists including (Drake, Brent Faiyaz, BoyzIIMen, Fred Hammond etc.) Also possibly working with them in the studio ,God willing. That’s where I see myself in 5 years.

What do you bring to the music world?

I bring a different sound. Sure, am I inspired by the music I listen to? Yes who isn’t. But I believe that I bring a different approach to the music. Also I would add that the lyrics I write may as well match other peoples mind set but some may not feel free enough to say. I just speak from my heart. However I am feeling, whatever emotions I have built up inside I carry them out through the sound of my music. I literally recently went through a break up, and that felt like it shredded my heart to a million pieces to the point where I couldn’t even sleep. So while I endured my restless nights, I picked up my pen and just began to write and I came up with some of my best work yet. Written , Produced, Mixed by me. I decided to call it IV The Life Pt.1 and it only gets better from there.

What legacy do you want to leave behind?

I want my music to be timeless. I want everyone that hears my music knows that it is Ernest IV (then proceed to turn it up to the max). And I want to be referred to as somebody who never gave up , someone who kept pushing against all odds. I want my music to speak to all generations. I want my voice to reach to the ends of the globe. The legacy I wish to leave behind is to simply make a footprint in the World. For people to enjoy my music. Jam to it. Cry to it (if need be). Dance to it. Be inspired by it truly.
