Dear My New Year Self

Dear My Love,

You have been hard on yourself.

You have had a rough time this year; burnt out from a career you no longer love, pushing away the most beautiful man and thinking about your own death in a way which was terribly unhealthy.

But out of that darkness, you have found something greater.

You have stripped yourself of the masks you continued to wear and the thought that you were not good enough. You have found the light that was always shining within you but was drowning in your negative self-talk and downward spiral of self-flaggelation.

But now, you are ready.

You are ready to step into a career that brings you joy and hope and purpose and happiness.

You are ready to fully love the one who loves you.

And you are ready to live life fully, without fear and in a way which aligns with who-you-really are.

You are ready.

You are ready to spend more time in the abundance of nature that surrounds you, by choosing to go places which light up your inner light - bush, beach, river, forest. You are ready to sit in the wildness that is nature and let her become you and you her. You are ready to listen to the bird song and let your own song rise up through you in blissful release.

You are ready to spend your time in your passion; learning, understanding and becoming the very best writer you can be by reading, researching, asking questions and surrendering to stories. You are ready to sit with your own stories and let them have a voice and to stand behind them as they blossom into whatever they will become. You are ready to be heard.

You are ready to give 1000% to he who loves you and you him. You will not hold back any more, or push him away thinking you aren't worthy and you will let him love you. Love is nothing to be afraid of My Love, you finally know that now. Being loved by another is the ultimate expression of connection and you deserve to be loved. That voice that told you otherwise is not welcome in this house. You are ready to immerse yourself in the bliss that is mutual connection, dreaming and a shared life.

You are ready to make your body a priority. You have beaten it up far too often and without justification. Your body is your temple, I know you know this, but now, you are ready to make better choices that are nourishing, compassionate and which bring you joy. This body, this beautiful silky, wondrous thing, is beautiful, just as you are.

And finally, you are ready to follow your heart into whatever it is life has in store for you. You have chosen a word for the year: Embrace, and no matter what comes you will embrace every experience with grace, compassion and gratitude. You know what is right for you, listen to yourself, listen to your heart, your intuition and remember that you are not your feelings. They just need to be observed, not taken as gospel. Your feelings are there to guide you, not to take over your life.

My Love, you know now you are worthy of the most spectacular life and you should be proud of the barriers which have helped to carve you into who you are today. Those challenges have made you stronger and you know that whatever happens from now on, you are fully prepared to face them with all the tools you have collected on your journey.
