Corporate Exit, Passion Pursuit

Why I Left the Corporate World to Pursue My Passion

By Can EVİRGEN Published 3 years ago 3 min read

It's no secret that many people find themselves stuck in jobs they don't enjoy, just going through the motions and counting down the hours until they can go home. For me, that job was in the corporate world. I was climbing the ladder, working long hours, and feeling increasingly unfulfilled. Then, one day, I had a moment of clarity: life is too short to spend it doing something you don't love. So, I took a deep breath and made the leap. This is my story.

The Realizations that Led to the Decision

It was a combination of things that made me realize it was time for a change. Firstly, I found myself constantly daydreaming about doing something more creative and fulfilling. Secondly, I was feeling burnt out and disillusioned with the corporate grind. Finally, a dear friend passed away unexpectedly, reminding me that life is precious and that we should make the most of it while we can. These realizations made me re-evaluate my priorities and led me to my decision to leave the corporate world.

The Fear and Uncertainty

Leaving a steady job and the security it provides is a scary thought, and I was filled with uncertainty about what the future would hold. But I knew I couldn't ignore my dreams and that I had to take a leap of faith. So, I put my notice in, said goodbye to my colleagues, and started my new journey.

The Steps Taken to Transition

Transitioning from corporate to passion-driven work was a process. I took some time to reflect on what I was truly passionate about and what I wanted to do with my life. I did some freelance work and took courses to improve my skills. I networked and reached out to people in the industry I wanted to be in. And, most importantly, I stayed positive and remained open to new opportunities.

The Challenges and Obstacles

The transition wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, however. There were definitely challenges and obstacles along the way. For one, finding steady work in my new field was harder than I thought it would be. I also had to deal with the fear of not making enough money to pay the bills. But, I reminded myself why I made the decision to leave the corporate world in the first place and pushed through.

The Benefits and Rewards

Pursuing my passion has brought me so much joy and fulfillment. I wake up excited to start my day and work on projects I'm passionate about. I have more time for hobbies and interests outside of work. And, best of all, I feel like I'm making a difference in the world.

The Lessons Learned and Advice for Others

Looking back, I can see that the decision to leave the corporate world was one of the best I've ever made. Here are a few lessons I learned along the way:

Life is too short to spend it doing something you don't love.

Take a leap of faith and follow your dreams.

Stay positive and be open to new opportunities.

Surround yourself with a supportive network.

If you're considering a similar move, I encourage you to take the leap. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it. Pursuing your passion is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have.

In conclusion, leaving the corporate world was a big step for me, but I'm so glad I took it. I've found my passion and am now able to live life to the fullest. So, if you're feeling unfulfilled in your current job, remember that it's never too late
