AS LUCK WOULDN'T HAVE IT!

For all you racehorse fans, there are some pretty good races coming up around the country this spring, so break a leg, ah, yours not the horses' leg.

For those of you who never gambled only because you feel so unlucky all the time, check this out.

I was at the local race track recently and while trying to handicap the next race I heard a couple guys arguing. One of them grabbed the program out of his buddy's hand and through it over his shoulder like a hook shot ,while yelling throw that damn thing in the trash.

Now two things made this moment very interesting. First of all, what a great or lucky shot because it landed right in

the trash can. Sign that guy up!

The second thing though was the real attention getter. The trash can was a good twenty feet away, yet this paper program flew through the air as if it were a basketball.

My curiosity peaked so i checked it out.

Folded neatly inside the program was a small notebook. Much like the ones you always heard of when guys are bragging about their many girlfriends and the little, black book they carry around.

I looked around for the two guys but apparently they had left.

The book had only one page written on It, which said

2W 25E 258T Nothing else. I just stared at it, Then put it on a nearby table, and walked away.

THEIR OFF! was the next thing I heard, which meant the horse race had started, but i didn't make a bet that race, I was to busy with little, black books.

The winner of the race was the number 2 horse and the exacta was the 2/5.

Haha. I felt lucky because those were not the numbers i was going to bet. My thinking was, I didn't win, But I didn't lose either.

Then it came to me, what were those numbers inside the book I thought. I went back to get it, but it was gone.

About that time I heard a woman screaming, OMG,OMG,OMG and I ran up to her, to see if I could help. As luck would have it she recognized me from many years ago as a friend of my family, and decide to trust me. She told me the story of the little black book she found on the table and read the inside. She said she felt like it was an omen and decided the number on the inside were the ones that would win. and played them just as they were written.

The written numbers she played as a trifecta, won and paid her $23,250., . She gave me $5000 and I am happy for her. The story pretty much ends here. except for one thing.

You see when she left she took the book with her as a keepsake.

I got a phone call last night from this lady and she asked me if I had written anything in the book before we left then track?

No mam, I did not, why do you ask? She said, that's very strange because there is more writing on the next page, I wonder how it got there?

She told me it said, 4W 47E 471T.

I am now on my way to her home to repay her the 5000 dollars she so kindly gave me.

I'll just deduct it from the $25,750 I won after hitting the trifecta, with a winning combination of 471 and i'm not even going to ask about the little black book.

IF YOU ARE FEELING LUCKY, here is a piece of advice, always help little old ladies, and NEVER EVER THROW AWAY LITTLE BLACK BOOKS. dbd
