Are you living for you?

Learn to live for yourself

By Roland DwehPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

In practically every day of our lives, we have moments when we get a glimpse of who we are, what we're capable of, what we're meant to be, or what we want to be. But the struggles in life are so many that it seems as if we are never going to make it out alive. Many of us want to either take care of our families or contribute to their livelihood. But we are either unemployed or do not make enough money to do so. As a result, we feel discouraged and bitter.

These are significant desires that constantly beckon to us. However, the pressures of life often get in the way before we can respond to their call. You need money for necessities. Your family isn’t living the life you dreamed of. As a result, we put off achieving our goals for another day in order to hustle more.

How do we move on from this? How do we begin living the life that matters to us instead of merely attending to the minor emergencies that arise every day?

Too often, we take action in response to the urgent rather than the important. Too frequently, the desire to create something we're proud of loses out to the pressing need to generate money. The desire to find a job quickly so as to start making money takes precedence over staying in school to complete a 4 to 5-year degree program . And at times, the need to be recognized or acknowledged triumphs over the capacity to be in the moment and content.

Undoubtedly, we all need money. And sure, there are times when the demands of the world force us to put crucial matters in our lives on hold in order to regulate the rest of our hectic lives. The ability to manage obligations is a life skill. But how long will you put off what's vital to you in order to attend to the next pressing matter? How long will you delay accomplishing what you are capable of achieving in order to continue doing what you are doing? We much too frequently base our decisions on what is urgent for us rather than what is significant to us. It's dangerously simple to spend years going after the next important thing.

How to live for yourself ?

First, to live for yourself, you have to know yourself. Choose a clear course for yourself if you want to start living a meaningful life. Avoid the trap of living the life that other people want you to live and have the confidence to say, "This is what I want, and I'm going for it."

We all have urgent tasks to complete every day, such as going to school, taking care of our family members, or spending time with loved ones. But don’t forget about taking care of yourself and your goals or aspirations. So, by having a clear purpose and goal in mind, you can return to the important tasks right after handling the urgent tasks of the day. A clear objective offers you focus and keeps you from getting caught in a flurry of time-consuming, pointless activity.

You should realize that the life you have is yours and no one else’s. So if you succeed tomorrow, it’s a win for you, but if not, it’s your loss. You don’t have to be selfish and care for only yourself; just don’t get too involved in what others want you to do or what they think is best for you. Listen to advice, but make your own decisions.

Live for yourself

Never will anything worthwhile feel urgent. Your goals are, by their nature, important. They don't currently clamor for attention. They demand long-term consistency, a sense of direction, and a sense of purpose. I suggest that we stop allowing the potential for greatness to elude us. I contend that we should stop the mad dash to mediocrity and begin the steady march to excellence. Pick one thing that matters to you, make a clear objective for yourself, and start doing it right away.

Never give up on your aspirations.
