It's New Year's Eve! We finally get to put this year behind us! I'm ready, are you?

I've always found it entertaining to research superstitions and there are tons surrounding this particular day. My paternal grandmother was said to be incredibly superstitious, but she passed away when I was 8. I only remember her tossing salt over her shoulder whenever she spilled some.

I don't fancy myself as being overly superstitious, but I did just tuck a red envelope containing $88 under the mat at my front door. I also put $88 in my pocket and another in my pocket. Infinite good fortune, love and prosperity, that's my wish for 2022.

As I counted out my cash, I realized that I'm pretty lucky to have $264 in cash right now. A lot of people are flat-ass broke with it being a crappy year for the economy and right after Christmas. We're also blessed to have a full pantry and warm roof. Perhaps I'll draw enough prosperity to allow me to spread the wealth a little more next year.

So, you may ask, what's with the red envelope and $88. I don't quite recall all the details behind the red envelope. I know it's a Chinese superstition, to give a red envelope of coins to loved ones on New Year's Eve, I think it's supposed to bring them prosperity.

In Feng Shui, red is said to attract positive energy. Some even suggest having a red front door will bring good luck to your home.

The number 8 is said to be the most powerful. Symbolizing infinity, power, success, efficiency, decisiveness, love, and material gain.

Of course, 3 is just my OCD... alright, maybe there's a little bit more to it. I wrote a poem about my obsession with the number 3 if you'd care to read it. It's said to represent the Trinity, self-love, confidence, creativity, communication, and innovation. It's all stuff I feel I could use more of in the coming year and so can everybody else in my house.

I'm still debating whether or not I should clean the house today. Some say that you'll wash all of your good luck down the drain if you do. I'm feeling like the old shack may just need to be purged of all the bad luck from 2021. That crap can go down the drain already. Then we'll have room for all the blessings my 3 groups of $88 and the red envelope will draw to us for 2022.

Seems legit, right?

Part of me says it's a little nutty. I know some folks that would think I'm drawing on demonic powers. I don't know. I think I'm just trying to direct a little bit of positive energy into our home.

On New Year's Eve of 2019, I tucked $80 under our front doormat. By March 12th, I had sealed deals on an extra $115,000. I literally signed papers on a Friday and then Covid shut down our economy on the following Monday. Someone was certainly watching over us!

I didn't do anything last New Year's Eve to prepare our home to receive prosperity and this year, we haven't been so lucky. We've had some major equipment breakdowns, the bottom fell out of the cattle market right when we needed to sell our calves and I felt like I lost my drive and sense of purpose.

I think the proof is in the pudding. So I'll set just a little bit of intention into moving into 2022. I'll do a few little things to draw some positive energy back our way and then just wait to see what happens.

Maybe you have $88, or $8 or even 88 cents, that you can tuck under your own mat to draw some good fortune your way in the New Year. If not, I'll try and send some of our blessings your way.

May you all be richly blessed in 2022!
