3 Types of mindsets that kill progress, you need to know before it's too late.

The biggest threat to success.

By Anushka ChavanPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

On the path to success, your mindset has the biggest game-changer. We hear a lot of people telling you, what kind of mindset is good for you, but no one tells us what are the bad types of mindsets. But don't worry today I will tell you 3 types of mindsets you should avoid, and how to get rid of these kinds of mindsets.

1. Overestimating Yourself.

As we grow up, sometimes we start overestimation ourselves and our abilities. We feel as if we know everything. We stop learning. Learning is a crucial part of progress. If you think you know everything, it’s called false ego. Going back from here is extremely hard. Once you create a mindset like this, you will only degrade yourself.

Always remember:- It doesn't matter at what stage you are in life, you will always be a student of life.

A lot of times, people like real-life experiences but still feel like they know everything. We see these kinds of people on social media a lot. Them overestimating themselves can sometimes cause us to lose too. If we keep in mind that it doesn't matter how long have you been doing something, you always have room for progress and improvement. Even the people being on the top of the world say they are still a student. They still have lot to learn.

“It is quite possible that I have underestimated you, Gwyneth. But that’s no reason for you to overestimate yourself.” ― Kerstin Gier, Smaragdgrün.

2. Not Respecting others.

Being Humble is really important. If you don’t respect others, no one will respect you either. In the path of success, we are never alone. We are always supported and loved by others. I’ve seen many people just forget who helped them get where they are today. What’s the use of success if you don’t have humanity? Is it even worth it? Is it all you dreamed of?

Always appreciate others for their efforts and for the unconditional love, they gave you. Humility is one of the most important attributes of growth. You can learn from others to progress, improve, and learn something new every day. Being grounded will keep you connected to your roots. Respecting others doesn’t take much effort. It doesn’t hurt your ego too. Be Kind, Be Thankful. Gratitude is one of the strongest weapons.

Respect is an appreciation of the separateness of the other person, of the ways in which he or she is unique. - Annie Gottlieb.

3. Not Planning Properly.

I can not emphasize how important planning is. Whatever I do I make sure to plan properly. Many people don’t plan their work and therefore fail at completing it. Don’t fall into this mindset. Planning helps in everything whether it’s finances, future planning, career, anything. You won’t waste your time if you know what to do. Planning provides you with a clear direction to take action. Planning acts as a guide.

I know a lot of us fail at it at times. But don't worry, it just needs practice and patience. Sometimes you won’t be able to keep up with your plan. At such times, know it’s ok.

Here's an example:- Will you be able to save money, if you don’t keep track of your finances? No, you won’t. To save more, you need to know where you spend more. You must have a clearer vision. Once you realize the importance of planning nothing’s stopping you.

“By Failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” — Benjamin Franklin.
