Hello everyone. My name is Jordan Mendiola, and I have money addiction.

Ever since I started my first job working for minimum wage at a movie theater at 16, I have been addicted to earning money.

Even if my only days free of sporting commitments were the weekends, I found a way to squeeze in two eight-hour shifts.

I am no different from many millennials in today’s age.

If you’re reading this, I want to share a few jobs that have been life-changing for me. The jobs I plan to mention are something that everyone has a fair chance at utilizing as tools for success in their lives.

Earning as much money as possible and putting it towards savings, investments, and beyond to build future stability is the addiction.

In High school and beyond, I have found ways to create multiple streams of income at any given point in time and you have probably done the same.

I want my money to work for me.

Now that I’ve made my way into my early twenties, I feel like I have a generally better idea on how my money addiction came to be. It’s the journey of hustling for your money.

The purpose of this article is to provide insights that can help people in the hustle-culture to find their footing.

Here are three jobs that turned me into a money-making machine (sports betting is not one of them).

1. Dog Walking

“If you’re a dog lover, cash in on doing something you love!”

Walking dogs is an addictive passion of mine because the money comes so quickly. You market your dog walking business, chat with owners, and negotiate a price.

Who doesn’t want to get paid to spend time with dogs?

They’re such sweet and heart-warming animals that reduce stress and teach us a lot of about loyalty and unconditional love — plus they’re adorable!

A dog walker can expect to make anywhere from $10 per walk to $35 per walk.

Some ways I’ve set myself apart from other dog walkers include:

Walking dogs in the wintertime when it’s cold as Alaska

Running service for dogs to get some exercise

10 minutes before every appointment

The job of dog walking doesn’t eat up your entire day, and it ensures that you’ll have a little extra dough in your pockets.

If you feel like making quick and easy money, get proficient at handling dogs, and you’ll be able to make an extra $200–$300 a week once you get good at booking appointments.

Once you become proficient at using Google Calendar and staying organized, you’ll be able to maximize your money, while protecting your free time.

With the help of the dog walking app, Wag!, you can walk dogs from any part of the United States! It’s always on the go.

2. NextDoor — Freelancing App

“Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.” — Randy Pausch

The app and website, “Nextdoor,” is the neighborhood hub for trusted connections and the exchange of helpful information, goods, and services. Join your neighborhood.

If you love to hustle, this resource is the place for you.

Examples of jobs found on Nextdoor include:

Mowing Lawns

Walking Dogs

Yard/Gardening Beautification

Babysitting

Finding work online and meeting people in my community to work for them has been one of the most fulfilling jobs by far.

I have become addicted to helping improve the community — especially when a client is too old to do backbreaking work like pulling weeds, mowing the lawn, or landscaping.

Through Nextdoor, we can learn tons of valuable skills in communication and trying new tasks.

3. The Military & Being Deployed

“There is always something you can do to make deployment better, faster, funnier.”

During my current Army deployment, the military had helped set me up for financial stability, something I hoped for when I enlisted.

Many of my battle-buddies have gotten out of debt, saved up for a new car, and accumulated enough money for a nice vacation upon return.

While earning a full-time income, I am reading and writing blogs in my free time. Never did I think I’d have an income while being able to create content. I’m living the dream!

If you’re good at following orders, then the military will be a great way to grow financially and internally.

They help provide us with housing, a per-diem for food, and offer tons of resources to succeed as a soldier and in life.

We take on a lot of responsibility when we commit to something like the military. Some weeks I feel like I would rather be somewhere else, but in the long-run, this is where I belong.

Since I have a growth mindset and want to set myself for the future, developing a portfolio in the stock market wouldn’t have been possible without the military. I feel like I’m setting myself up for my thirties and beyond.

By serving my country, the Army has empowered plenty of my peers and I. My military appreciates the extra support I’ve been providing them during this tough time.

If you’re unsure about where you want to go in life, the military can help you gain clarity, all you have to do is take a leap-of-faith. Plenty of meaningful relationships and life-lessons await you.

After working on a wide variety of jobs, I feel like I’m seeing where I don’t mind spending my time making a living.

I encourage anyone in their late teens and early twenties to try a bunch of random side jobs.

Earning money is a fun process when you know how to save and reinvest it. On the one hand, money addiction isn’t a terrible thing to have. It shows that you can commit to earning money to do the things you want in life.

Earning money should be a fun learning experience.

Just because you’re earning minimum wage at first (like I did), you can reinvent yourself to create multiple streams of income to satisfy your money addiction.

Take a break every once in a while. Other than that, go out and make as much money as you desire!
