10 Things To Do When Having A Bad Day.
It can be difficult to get out there and face the world when you feel like nothing goes your way.

We know that bad days happen, even when we're not in the mood to be down. And there's no use fighting them or pretending like they're not happening. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just accept it and move on but sometimes you need to take some time for yourself and your mental health to put things back into perspective. These things help us get our minds back on track.
1. Watch a favorite movie or TV show.
If you're having a hard time getting your mind right, sometimes all you need is a 90 minute distraction to help put things back into perspective. Choose something that's sure to make you feel happy and light it doesn't have to be funny, but humor is always great for releasing tension. You could go for something silly like The Princess Bride, or stick with your favorite romantic comedy like Say Anything from the '80s. Even something lighthearted like Mean Girls can help put things in perspective when you're feeling down.
2. Listen to your favorite music.
Music can really boost moods and relieve anxiety. But it's also often one of the hardest things for people to get back in the mood after feeling down and that's OK. Sometimes you just need to listen to your favorite music and accept it, but other times you can choose a playlist that will help put things in perspective.
For example, maybe your favorite song is This'll Be An Everlasting Love and you feel like nothing good could ever happen to you, so you just feel upset. But listen to the lyrics of this song and you'll realize that nothing really means anything in the end, and that everything is going to be fine. This can help bring a smile and a positive attitude into your day.
3. Text or call a friend.
You probably remember that feeling when you were 10 years old you'd tell your best friend how much fun you were having at the mall and how much you liked an outfit she had on. Chances are, she didn't respond, but it's OK you're a grown up now. You could go to your online banking site and text a friend that you're feeling down about nothing in particular or ask for their advice on what to do with your day. Texting is a great tool that can help put things back into perspective.
4. Do something positive with someone else.
It's easy to isolate yourself when you're down, but it doesn't mean that you should be. When you come into a bad mood, the worst thing you can do is sit there and wallow in it. Instead of being passive about it and letting the day drag on, get back up and do something positive. Maybe your friend is going to a fun event on campus go with them.
Or if your pet wants some attention and you're feeling down, cuddle with them for a little while. This will bring that missing piece back into your day. If no one's going out to enjoy their time on campus or with their friends, take the initiative yourself. This is your time too.
5. Do something you did as a kid.
This is one of the most fun ways to bring that feel good feeling back in your life. You're probably pretty busy with school and work, so it can be hard to find time for the things you loved as a kid but when you're having a bad day, do this. Kick off your shoes and dance in the rain like you did when you were a kid. Or do something silly like go grocery shopping wearing only your pajamas or swim in the pool without getting changed afterwards anything goes. You'll be amazed at how quickly this will change your mood.
6. Pick out a new outfit.
If you're feeling down, you probably don't feel like putting in the effort to look good but you do! When you're having a bad day and want to feel happy, put on something that's going to make you feel good about yourself. You'll feel happier in your skin and be more confident when talking to others. If you're doing work or staring at the computer all day, change up your everyday look with fresh makeup or a new hairstyle if possible. Getting out of town will do more than make you feel better there's also evidence that spending time immersed in nature can actually make you look years younger If your city doesn't have good access to nature, try finding some way to get outdoors every day.
8. Do a simple activity.
If you're feeling down, it's easy to lose interest in simple things like reading your favorite books or watching your favorite show but that doesn't mean you need to give up those things completely Get yourself a new book to read new books are actually really fun to read and interesting, not just boring or watch an episode of whatever show you used to enjoy.
You can even get a new hobby that you always wanted but never found the time for as a kid like sewing It might take some effort, but when you stop thinking about the bad day you've had and just focus on something positive, it'll make the time fly by.
9. Drink a cup of coffee or tea.
This is one of the most universal ways to feel better, and something that's a pretty easy activity to do all you need is time. If you're feeling down, just sit in your favorite chair or kitchen chair with a cup of coffee or tea and take some time for yourself. This is a great way to get back into your groove, but also break the cycle that you've gotten stuck in if you're spending all day in bed with the lights off thinking about how much stress you have right now, maybe drinking a cup of coffee will help get your mind off it. Bonus points if there's someone special waiting to enjoy it with you.
10. Do some exercise.
Exercise is one of the most effective ways to combat depression, which means that if this is one of the times when it's particularly hard for you to do exercise no worries. There are still many other ways around that. If you're feeling that your day will be better if you hit the gym and work out, then do it even if you didn't want to. If you're super busy and can't fit in a workout in your day, make it a part of your daily routine. Just make sure that it's something that always gets done and not something you pick up only when you feel low this will help.
