Under the Crescent Moon"

The Perfect Eid Gift

"Under the Crescent Moon"

Lina had always loved Ramadan. It was the one month of the year where everything felt different—more peaceful, more meaningful, more… magical. The nights of Taraweeh, the warmth of suhoor with family, and the deep conversations with Allah during tahajjud made her feel closer to her faith. But this Ramadan, something was different.

She wasn’t looking for love. In fact, she had completely given up on the idea. "If Allah wills it, it will come at the right time," she would always tell herself.

One evening, after iftar, Lina went to the masjid for Taraweeh with her younger brother. As they walked, she noticed an elderly woman struggling to carry a bag of groceries. Without hesitation, she rushed to help.

"Jazakillahu khayran, my dear," the woman smiled warmly. "You remind me of my granddaughter. She always helps others."

Lina blushed. "It’s nothing, Auntie. May Allah bless you."

The woman nodded and looked at her closely. "You have a good heart. My grandson is just like you—always thinking of others."

Lina chuckled politely, not thinking much of it. She helped the woman to her house and hurried to the masjid, catching up with her brother just in time for Isha.

That night, as she sat in the masjid courtyard after Taraweeh, drinking water under the crescent moon, she felt a presence nearby.

"As-salamu alaykum," a deep yet gentle voice greeted her.

She turned and saw a young man standing respectfully at a distance. He had a kind face, the kind that carried sincerity in his eyes.

"Wa alaykum as-salam," she replied softly.

"I just wanted to thank you for helping my grandmother today," he said. "She wouldn’t stop talking about how kind you were."

Lina smiled. "Alhamdulillah, she’s a sweet woman."

The man nodded, then hesitated before speaking again. "She… she actually wanted me to meet you. But I told her that these things happen by Allah’s will, not through planning." He chuckled. "I guess she was right about one thing—you really are special."

Lina felt her heart skip a beat. She wasn’t one to believe in fate like this, but in that moment, under the Ramadan sky, something in her heart told her that this meeting was more than coincidence.

Over the next few weeks of Ramadan, their paths kept crossing at the masjid, at charity events, even at the grocery store. And with every small encounter, Lina found herself drawn to his kindness, his sincerity, and most importantly, his love for Allah.

By the time Eid arrived, she found herself standing beside her mother, listening to a familiar voice ask for her hand in marriage—a love story that had begun in the most beautiful month of the year.

Because when love is meant to find you, it will… even under the crescent moon of Ramadan.

The Perfect Eid Gift

The morning of Eid al-Fitr arrived, filling the air with the scent of fresh sweets and the joyous sounds of children laughing. Lina stood in front of the mirror, adjusting her soft blue hijab, feeling a strange mix of emotions—gratitude, excitement, and a warmth she couldn’t quite describe.

As her family prepared to leave for Eid prayer, her mother received a phone call. It was from the elderly woman Lina had helped—the grandmother of the kind-hearted man she had met during Ramadan.

After prayer, Lina’s family visited the elderly woman’s house, where a familiar voice greeted her.

"As-salamu alaykum," the young man said, a hopeful smile on his face.

"Wa alaykum as-salam," Lina replied, her heart beating a little faster.

His grandmother took Lina’s hand warmly. "My dear, I told you my grandson was just like you—someone who seeks goodness for the sake of Allah." She turned to Lina’s mother with a knowing smile. "Would you consider our family for your daughter?"

Lina’s mother exchanged a glance with her, a silent question in her eyes. And in that moment, Lina knew the answer.

A few weeks later, under a starry summer night, Lina and the man who once thanked her for a simple act of kindness were now husband and wife.

As she looked at him across the room, she whispered a quiet prayer:

"Ya Allah, I wasn’t searching for love, but You sent it to me in the most beautiful way—through goodness, sincerity, and Ramadan."

And just like that, her love story had begun—not in fleeting emotions, but in faith, kindness, and Allah’s perfect timing.

Because love that is built on faith lasts beyond Ramadan… it lasts a lifetime.
