When you don't wear much makeup (or any) on a regular basis, it can be hard to decide what to do on your wedding day. It is a very special day so you want to look your best, but you don't want to look too made up (and not really yourself).

The best thing to do is wear minimal makeup on your big day. Here are some tips for natural-looking make-up on your wedding day.

Take Care of Your Skin

In order to keep your natural beauty, you need to take care of your skin. If you haven't been doing much, you need to step up and begin now!

At least three months before your big day, you need to kick your skincare regime up a notch. Even if you haven't done so before, you should start scheduling at least one facial a month to give your face a fresh base for any makeup that you do wear.

Drink Plenty of Water

You should also make sure that you are drinking plenty of water a few months before the wedding. Water will really make your skin glow, so make sure that it is your drink of choice for a few months before your wedding.

Stay Out of the Sun

You don't want to have to worry about getting sunburnt before your wedding, so make sure that you are staying out of the sun or using makeup with suntan lotion. If your wedding is outside, make sure that you use makeup that has enough SPF in it. You don't want to get a sunburn on your big day!

Do a Test Run for Your Makeup

Though many brides have a test run for their hair, few think about doing the same for their makeup. You may even want to try several makeup artists before choosing the one that you want to go with on your special day.

Go for a Minimal Look

When deciding how you want your makeup to look, make sure that you still look like you. Your makeup should just aim to bring out your best features, not change your look completely. Go for minimal makeup that looks timeless.

Give Yourself Ample Time

Make sure that you give yourself enough time to get ready on your wedding day. If you are rushed, you won't be able to enjoy this moment. You might also run out of time and you won't be able to do everything that you wanted. Then you might not feel as good as you possibly can.

For this reason, give yourself at least an extra half an hour (if not more). You won't be waiting around. You will use every last minute that you give yourself so you can look your best for your soon-to-be husband.

Use Waterproof Mascara

Though many don't think that they will need it, you should never skip waterproof mascara. You don't want mascara running down your face to ruin your pictures.

Don't Forget to Bring Along a Touch-Up Kit

Your wedding day will last all day (and your makeup should too)! You are going to be smiling, crying, and dancing the night away. If you want your look to last the whole day and night, you are going to need some essentials to get you through.

It doesn't have to be much. Lip gloss or lipstick, blush, powder, and a few other essentials will help you look your best throughout the whole day.

It is possible to have natural-looking makeup for your wedding. However, you have to take care of your skin by ramping up your skincare regime, drinking plenty of water, and staying out of the sun. You may even want to meet with a few makeup artists and have a trial run to make sure that you are completely happy with your look. Don't forget to take a touch-up kit along. Your makeup may not make it all day and night so it is helpful to be able to touch it up when needed.
