Matchmaking and Arranged Marriage: How two strangers come closer.

Sumit and Priya first met through their families. Sumit was a software engineer and Priya a school teacher. Their marriage was arranged by their parents as per the usual arranged marriage process.

On their first meeting, they exchanged only formalities. Sumit was a little shy, while Priya was confident. However, there was an ease between them, which was reflected in the unspoken words. Most of the questions in the conversation centered on likes-dislikes and small things related to life.

The marriage was fixed, but both had countless questions in their minds. Will they be able to understand each other truly? Will this relationship remain limited to formality or will it grow deeper?

Slowly, the two started talking. Through phone calls and messages, they started understanding each other. Sumit started liking Priya's laughter, and Priya liked Sumit's way of thinking.

One day Priya asked, “What do you like the most?”

Sumit laughed and said, “Calm atmosphere and good books. And you?”

Priya smiled and replied, “Getting drenched in the rain and drinking coffee.”

They started discussing their fears and apprehensions and slowly became comfortable with each other.

The wedding was a grand ceremony, but the real test began after that. New responsibilities, new house, new relationship—everything was new. There was a little discomfort in the beginning, but both of them gave time to each other.

After a few weeks of marriage, Sumit realized that Priya had a hobby of staying up late at night and writing stories. He had never noticed this habit, but now he found it interesting.

Similarly, Priya noticed that Sumit liked the peace of the morning and started his day with yoga and meditation.

One night, when Sumit woke up late at night, he saw Priya sitting in the balcony and writing something. He came closer and asked, "What are you writing?"

Priya said smilingly, "Just some thoughts."

Sumit took the diary from her hand and read it. It was written in it:

'Some relationships are strangers, but with time they become a part of life. Perhaps this is also one such relationship.'

Sumit gave the diary back with a light smile and said, "So are we no longer strangers to each other?"

Priya nodded laughingly.

With time, both of them started adopting each other's small habits. Sumit was not in the habit of waking up early in the morning, but Priya liked a relaxed morning with tea. Gradually Sumit started waking up early in the morning, just so that he could sit with Priya and have tea.

Priya was not much interested in technology, but she started reading about it to understand Sumit's work.

One day Priya fell ill. Sumit took leave from office, took care of her, and even cooked food. This was the first time Priya realised that this relationship was not just a social bond, but a true bond. That very night, when Sumit placed his hand on Priya's forehead, Priya told him for the first time, "You are really special to me."

Sumit smiled and said, "And you to me."

By now, both of them had understood each other's strengths and weaknesses. There would be fights sometimes, but they would be resolved quickly.

Once Priya got angry at something and stopped talking. Sumit brought her favourite Gulab Jamun to pacify her, but she refused to take it.

Sumit laughed and said, "If you don't eat, I will eat it myself."

Priya stared at him, then quietly picked up the Gulab Jamun.

Such small moments made their relationship stronger.

In arranged marriages, love and understanding blossom over time. The story of Sumit and Priya shows how two strangers slowly transform from life partners to true companions.

Now, when they go to a wedding and see new couples, they smile at each other. Because they know that in every arranged marriage, the flower of love blossoms over time.
