For most couples, a wedding photographer is worth the investment to get a personal catalog of long-term memories. Although it is best to hire the services of a skilled and knowledgeable photographer, it can be a significant cost. But, there are several steps you can take to save money on this particular service.
Here are some helpful tips to cut the cost of hiring a wedding photographer:
Book early
The simplest way to save money on a wedding photographer is to book in advance. Many photographers discount early bookings. Therefore, when securing a wedding date, it is worth doing one of the first priorities to organize a photographer's search. Alternatively, it may be possible to pay in advance a significant percentage of the payment in return for the discount.
Go with the digital package
Another option to save money is to ask for photography for a digital package that will save you the cost of printing. Buying digital rights may seem expensive because you are only getting a disc of wedding photos. However, you can only print the photos you want compared to allowing the photographer to print out and charge every photo taken during the wedding and reception.
Plus, it can be saved by having the option of emailing copies of photos to family members or friends instead of printing the original.
Book photography and videography with the same provider
Not all photography studios offer videography services, or vice versa. But if you choose a supplier capable of shooting professional-grade photo and video, look for integrated photography and videography packages, which can cost hundreds of dollars less than individual photography and videography jobs.
Get Your Own Wedding Album
Some photographers offer packages in which they take photographs, print them, and put them on a fancy album for you. This is not a dive-approved strategy. You have to buy your own album (it's cheap) and organize the pictures yourself, whether you get them from a photographer as prints or as digital files that you can print yourself. You know better than anyone else how to tell your wedding story.
Limit the number of photos
Another option to save money is to find a photographer who agrees to charge a fee for their time and the number of photographs they shoot by putting a limit on the number of photos. At the end of the event, they simply turn you into digital photographs. You can choose to print photos in the photo lab of your choice.
Limit the time of your photographer and videographer
Some photographer and videographer packages cover a certain number of hours, usually four to seven. Before hiring your supplier and selecting your package, decide how long they should stay.
You probably want to capture the top elements such as walking in the hallway, exchanging vows, post-ceremony parade and cake cutting, but do you really want professional shots of rehearsal dinner, bride getting ready, distant family members or the after-party of your reception party?
Choose your package accordingly and don't be afraid to ask for modifications. For example, if you don't want photos or videos of the reception, your provider may be willing to bail out after the traditional wedding party shots.
Limit your images and videography staff length at smaller weddings
This is not always the case with multiple shooting sites or large or managerial complex weddings with challenging conditions.
But if you expect fewer than 75 guests at your wedding and plan a relatively traditional ceremony and reception, your supplier will only be willing to send you a major photographer or videographer, with helpers and interns often helping with setup, shooting and equipment - boat shipping at large events.
Depending on the supplier, it can lower your service bill by a few hundred dollars.
