A Real Love Story

not perfect... just true.

By UsamaPublished 7 months ago 3 min read

It was sometime in 1975, in the busy streets of New Delhi. A young Indian guy, people called him PK, short for Pradyumna Kumar Mahanandia — was sitting on a sidewalk with some charcoal and paper. He wasn’t just some guy sketching faces for coins. There was something special about his hands. Like, the way he drew… people stopped to look. His fingers knew how to speak, even when his mouth didn’t.

But behind those quiet eyes, there was a whole story. PK came from a low caste in Indian society one of the most ignored, looked down kind. Life was never easy for him. But he had this stubborn fire in him. He didn’t wanna stay stuck. He wanted more. He believed in something bigger.

And then… she showed up.

A girl with golden hair and the bluest eyes he ever saw. Like, real blue. Her name was Charlotte Von Schedvin a girl from a royal Swedish family. Yep. Actual royal blood. But she didn’t care about all that. She had come to India looking for something else for meaning, maybe, or peace. She heard about a boy who made portraits that felt like they were alive. So she went to find him. She sat down right in front of him.

And he started to draw.

With each line he drew on that paper, something changed between them. One look. One smile. Some quiet conversation. And something grew there… something real. Between charcoal and paper, between two strangers, love quietly showed up.

In just few weeks, they were in love. No logic. No plans. Just two hearts that said yes. They even got married under the open Indian sky the traditional way. It was raw and real and beautiful.

But nothing perfect stays.

Charlotte had to go back to Sweden. She asked PK to come with her. Even offered to buy him the flight ticket. But PK just smiled and said something that sounded simple, but was so powerful: “I’ll come to you… my way. Just wait for me.”

He meant it. And what he did next? Man, that wasn’t a promise it was a damn legend.

One cold morning in early 1978, he hugged his family goodbye. He packed a tiny bag. No passport stamp, no flight, no GPS. Just faith. Just love. And… a bicycle.

Yeah, he started pedaling from New Delhi to Sweden. On a bicycle.

He crossed Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Germany, and Denmark. No smartphone. No Google Maps. Just handwritten addresses, strangers' kindness, and a dream so big it kept him going.

He slept on roads sometimes. Ate food given by strangers. Made sketches of people on the way just to earn a few coins. He got sick. He got tired. But he didn’t stop.

People thought he was crazy. But you know what? Love makes you that way.

After almost four months and 7000 kilometers, he finally reached Sweden.

He knocked on Charlotte’s door.

No speeches. No big drama. Just two people looking at each other, eyes full of tears. She opened the door, hugged him, and just like that the rest of their life began.

They got legally married. Settled in Sweden. Had kids. Built a new life together. And guess what? They're still together. Even today.

PK didn’t just cross countries he crossed doubt, fear, hunger, and everything else that tried to stop him.

Today, he’s a known artist. He’s part of Swedish society, respected and loved. But more than anything he’s a reminder. A living reminder that real love still exists.

And this isn’t some made-up fairytale.

This actually happened. This is real. It tells us something simple but powerful:

If your heart is true, if your love is real... even a bicycle can take you across continents. And a simple promise can become a lifetime.
