If you are on this path to self- discovery or development, you are most likely intrigued by the title to this post. I don’t blame you. It was meant to pull you in because I want you to know the simpliest way to change your thoughts and immediatly start seeing results in the way you think and how you can change it for a new way of life.

You have to do something that sounds kinda nutty, but then again if you read my stuff, you most likely are like myself, or on the way to it.

To be the viewer of your thoughts, you need to remove yourself from the situation at hand and pretend that you are just HEARING what is going on in that head of yours.

It may sound a bit woo-woo to you but like I’ve said in the past, you are not THE mind.

The everyday conscious mind is a tool to be put to use when logic, analysis, planning, alertness, focus, cognition, and the senses are needed.

When it comes to THE mind, it doesn’t do very well with emotions because IT (THE MIND) always wants to protect you, take you away from pain and towards pleasure, NO MATTER WHAT.

It could be completley irrational what THE MIND is thinking but when it comes to your emotions kicking in due to an emotional upheaval and flow of energy, or energy getting trapped or logged in an area of your body and the logical thinking mind , to calm things down (5% of it), the emotions will always win in this battle.

Can you think of a time where you created a story in your head that later on in the day you KNEW was off the wall insane?

Imagine this scenario….

You’re a parent…

You teenager has gone home with a friend from school.

Your child is a great student, has wonderful friends, reliable, and trustworthy, always keeps you in the loop of things and always has her phone in reaching distance to text.

Your kiddo texts you when they are off the bus heading to the friends home after school.

You are doing ok.

Hours pass by so you text her to see when she will be home.

NOTHING

You give it 10 minutes and you text again.

Still NOTHING

It’s now 6 PM and you’d expect to hear by now. It’s dinner time and a school night.

OMG what is going on?

Why can’t I reach her?

Calm down, deep breath.

Shit, panic sets in and so do the stories in your head…

She’s dead in a ditch

Her friends have killed her

She’s been kidnapped

Your heart starts racing, you feel dizzy, you can’t focus on a damn thing but the story THE mind has conjured up in yout head.

EMOTION TAKES OVER, logic doesn’t have a chance in the world. The fact that your kid has never done anything like this EVER doesn’t even matter at this point.

You jump in the car immediatly and head over to the friends house as the crazy mom freaking out only to find a bunch of teeneagers eating, having fun, and watching a movie.

Sound like something you could do if you didn’t receive a text message back?

Imagine if it were a boyfriend or a girlfriend who wasn’t returing your texts or calls. The stories you’d make up!

So…

I want to give you a few steps you can take each day to BE THE VIEWER OF YOUR THOUGHTS but first I want to tell you why this can be so helpful in life. The benefits of practicing this..

You can become more positive

Begin to train your mind and body to STOP before doing anything or overracting

You can begin to notice when negativity is approaching.

Feeling the energy when you walk in a room.

Ditching old reactive habits/patterns

You become more curious on how to go deeper into improving yourself ( I did anyways)

FEEL stress levels decrease

Increased confidence and you FEEL more in control of your actions

Diffuse the crazy fast- Things that used to irritate you and cause frustration either no longer do or you can stop the emotion in it’s tracks.

You learn to let emotions come up and release them happily.

so much more but I think this is a good enough list.

If you are curious about meditatation or just sitting in silence, I suggest, you get your butt to sit still at least 10 min daily. This will help you to be able to really listen to your thoughts and view the patterns that you have. No judgements, just listen and perhaps write down what comes up- this is kinda the first step.

Okay so, the steps you can use on a daily basis.

Start a journal of some kind- only if you are a writing type of person, if not maybe record your voice on your phone, just write down the randomness that comes up. Record your sessions somehow.

Do not judge the thoughts. Accept that this is what THE mind thinks.

While in your session, know that a rule of the mind is to move you towards pleasure and away from pain(this is where crazy or unrealistic stories are created) The mind will justify anything with a story because it wants you to be comfortable.

Do this as much as you can.

Come up with a happy thought that can easily take you away from the negativity. What thoughts do you want to create? What feeling do you want to create?

Play the thoughts you want in your head repeatedly throughout the day and create the feeling in your heart’s center. Tell the mind to say them and the heart to feel when the negativity hits and IT WILL! YOU control the thoughts and feelings!

Another Technique- Come up with person, place, thing that you can visualize in your mind, something that brings you pure unconditional love (a pet, loved one, hobby)

Link the 2 together- Our imagination is way more powerful than you can imagine.

Repeat daily and as much as you can.

Use this technique and pound it into your head. Get excited to do it, you will see the results.

Post below and let me know how you do!
