Well, Mother Nature

Take a nice walk to a vegan vibe

Today is another chance to care for myself.

The sky gave me a refresher. A turning to myself and others.

My neck, my hip, both stiff from overuse and age. Head feeling the Klonopin.

I hope he's okay. I miss him so much. I wish I could aid in his recovery and well being. My heart aches for him. Gathering attention. This guy is in his own world, but very present. He is singing his song, and I dig it. Whatever he's eating looks good, because he's enjoying it.

Recall intention. Take a nice walk to a vegan vibe, perhaps share my sandwiches. Considering what would serve us. How can I tend to my self care, energy, and emotions today? I left work early today because I was accused of being a racist by a mask hole.

Ethical ending, action, and engagement. A fabulous vegan meal. Or sandwich. Self care: another walk.

Gawd Help Me

My next race has been moved from the upper west side, to Crotona Park in The Bronx. Crotona Park?!?!? I’ve only been there once. It poured, but I loved it.

But do me a favor, and go look at a New York City subway map. Go to the bottom left, and that’s where I live, right by the Verrazano Bridge. It’s the very last stop on the R train, the edge of the universe.

My last race was in Flushing Meadow Park, the end of the 7 line, the complete opposite end of where I am. I took an eighty dollar Lyft to get there by 8am.

The Road Back to the Bronx

Saturday (8/7) Crash Opening. My body refused to get out of bed. I’m trying to follow Nimai Delgado’s diet a bit. I owed myself a breakfast burrito, but that didn’t happen. Instead I poured an energy shot into my body after arriving to work. While I didn’t get to move, I did get to sit outside during my meal break. It was super hot, and I schvitzed the entire time. That had to be good for my body, right?, and great for my skin.

Sunday (8/8) Ran 2.96 mi/50 min, while listening to The Art of War, by Sun Tzu. And then I walked home 1.26 mi/28 min.

Monday (8/9) Had a rough time getting to sleep last night. It required two Ambien halves, plus a Delta-8 gummy. So, this morning I was in hell. Had no time to prepare food, nor caffeinate. As a result, I shoved an energy shot, and smothered vegan French fries into my body. Delicious, but not a health food. The fries, not the energy shot. Which tastes like Triaminic. Blech.

Tuesday (8/10) Picked up Art of War from chapter 6, running 1.69 miles/30 minutes.

Wednesday (8/11) Called out today. For no specific reason. I felt fine.

Thursday (8/12) Resistance band training. 29 minutes.

Saturday (8/14) 2.23 mile run, 39 minutes. Listened to Rich Roll with Bryan Fogel. Mind totally blown. Landed at Fatboy's Vegan Burgers, had a hajji and smothered tots. Bring on that mushroom gravy and melted mozzarella. What an incredible time it is to be a Brooklyn vegan. Even bought the t-shirt.

At some point this week there was kind of a double edged foul up with my meds. It happens on occasion. Just as a diabetic could forget to take there insulin, I fell asleep one single night before taking my meds. It messed me up for a few days, and definitely affected my training. Life is most certainly a balancing act, as is living.

Monday (8/16) I took a pre-shift power walk for 20 minutes, .88 miles. Then waiting for the bus later that evening, I swung my bag around for 13 minutes, and burned 43 calories.

Friday (8/20) Climbed the R to G train steps in 2 min: 22 sec, and burned 13 calories. Followed by a 25 min, 1.13 mile vegan donut walk.

Keep building cities from the ground

We're rising with the waves

Mother nature has a way of warning us

A time bomb set on a lost count down

Do you hear it, will you stop it

Won't you listen (Angelique Kidjo)

Well, Mother Nature sent me a message through a storm named Henri, that The Bronx will have to wait.
