Many of us constantly feel like we are falling behind and our to do list is never ending. One of the most important factors we often forget is that in order to be productive, we must learn - and know well - how to relax. Relaxation is also a form of art, i.e., one has to learn how to relax and learn of the infinite creative ways to make ourselves feel good. Relaxation is an important process of rejuvenation and restoration after a long week of hard and taxing work.
Below, I will outline three tips on how to best relax and make relaxation your weekly, if not daily, habit.

1. Writing about relaxation in your diary
Often we may not accomplish everything we set out to do but it helps jotting ideas, including ideas on how to relax, before attempting to make them reality. What are some relaxing activities that excite you? Is it reading a novel that inspires you? Is it going to a spa and give yourself a "me" day on Sunday? Is it going to your favorite yoga studio? The possibilities are infinite. Write down what relaxes you and start making plans. Often an idea begins with a paper and a pen before we make it a reality. Perhaps writing about a relaxing weekend getaway will help you to undertake to plan the getaway, even in small steps, and make it a reality.
2. Be creative when deciding on how to relax
Many think that relaxation is the obvious, e.g., taking a nap or watching your favorite TV show, when in fact, it's about putting an effort to make it extra comfortable and pleasant for yourself. For instance, how about making a bath at your home and filling it with your favorite lavender balm? Light your favorite scented candles and find soothing and therapeutic music. What about after the bath to think of what favorite scented oils you like to use to moisturize your body? How does rose-hip oil sound? What about using a dry brush to brush off any dead skin cells before the lavender bath? The brushing can feel therapeutic and the extra care between the scented soaps, candles and oils can help rejuvenate your skin. Hence, you see, relaxation needs your creative juices to flow in order to put together a brief program on how to take care of you.
3. Do some research to get ideas of how you love to relax
Companies, especially companies like spas or hotels, have spent an enormous amount of resources studying human behavior and how we best like to unwind. Hence, take a look at some of the companies that master in entertainment, including leisure. For instance, what scents to spas in the hotels use? What music do those same spas use? What about the candles and overall ambiance? I alway get inspired when I travel and then when I get home, I will buy those exact soaps I saw in the hotel or those scents I smelled in the hotel lobbies.
The culmination of relaxation in your life will make you that much more inspired and productive to tackle issues at work that you never thought you had it in you to beat and thrive. Hence, it is a topic that we should tackle seriously and devote an increasing time to since it's when we are most relaxed that our creativity and decision making becomes effortless rather than being burnt out from the everyday monotony.
