My Bursting Glow from within!

Let's Glow Up Together

Everyone has a different way of bringing out their inner and outer beauty, some have routines and others go with the flow. Some have stuck with the same daily routine for years while others have changed as products have improved or age has caught up with them.

I know that my routine has changed over the years a few times, being a dancer I would be required to plaster my face with makeup and as I grew up I started to use less and less.

My skin has never really changed however with age it has been in need of more attention.

I am a 42-year-old woman and I don’t feel like I have aged badly, thanks to my mother’s good family genes. Having said that I do look out for those wrinkles which are becoming more visible with time.

I have a few favourites that I always find myself using, some of these are L’Oréal, Garnier, Isabella Garcia, and my most recent is Alya Skin an Australian brand.

My routine is not only product-based but a lifestyle as well, I am on a Ketogenic Diet which does so much for our bodies, Keto has been known to slow down the ageing process and to make your skin look and feel less tired.

So enough chit chat let’s get into my routine.

I have to say my day starts well-rested, sleep is actually one of the biggest needs for our bodies, without the right amount of sleep no matter what you are using your skin will still look tired, I recommend getting the right amount of beauty sleep each night.

My morning cannot start without my first cup of coffee for the day, this is an absolute must for me. I know that teas are healthier however, I am a coffee person and that is one part of my morning I am not giving up. My husband is amazing and makes me a coffee every morning in bed, I love it.

After my coffee I take a shower, giving my body a shock of cold water and then slowly turning it up to a warmer temperature. Our skins do not like extremely hot water as it pulls out all our natural body oils leaving the skin dry and flaky. This can also result in irritated, itchy skin.

I like to wash my hair every third day, I dye my hair on a regular basis so I use a shampoo and conditioner for colour treated hair. I leave my conditioner on for as long as possible to get the best results. On these days I will shave all areas that need to be done. I’m not a big fan of body hair.

Moving on...

I use a body wash rather than the ordinary bar soap, I’m currently trying out a product by The Balnea Body Company, called Oxygen Burst Hydrating Body Wash, with invigorating dead sea salt. I absolutely love this product, and it smells great.

I always leave my face till last, my everyday face wash is the Alya skin Foaming Micellar Cleanser which is infused with watermelon seed and essential rose oil. A great cleanser for rejuvenating and hydrating the skin.

While this cleanser can be used every day I like to use the Alya skin Pomegranate Exfoliator facial scrub which is for all skin types twice a week. I gently massage the exfoliator all over my face and also my neck and rinse off, it leaves a slightly creamy texture on the face once rinsed.

I will then rinse the conditioner from my hair, on my hair wash days before stepping out the shower and drying off.

Once my body is dry I will use some Nivea Q20 body cream on my entire body except for my face and feet. While the cream is soaking into my body I brush my teeth.

I then apply the Alya Native Berries Moisturiser to my face. I use to use a toner but have recently decided to do away with it and find that my skin still looks and feels awesome after all the above has been done.

I like to leave my hair to dry on its own.

I find that with just the shower in the morning and all of the above I already feel so refreshed and ready to take on the day.

But wait...

An Extra Special Part of my weekly routine is to treat myself to a “me” day, usually, it’s on a Sunday. A warm evening bath with an exotic bath bomb, I will pop it into the water and watch it slowly dissolve as it changes the watercolour, all the little herbs float to the top of the water.

Before climbing into the bath I cover my face in the Alya Pink Clay Mask. This clay mask is brilliant. It’s said to strengthen, detox and cleanse your face.

The Pink Clay mask contains Kaolin which removes toxins, pigmentation clusters as well as stimulates and regenerate the skins cells. It doesn’t stop there, it reduces inflammation, and tightens the pores. It also has anti-ageing like effects.

Once applied I lay back in the bath and chill while the mask tightens on my face as it dries. My body soaking in all the nutrients and oils from the bath bomb.

If you don’t make time for yourself at least once a week to have a bit of a treat be it a face mask, a warm bath or even just some time to yourself binge-watching a series you really need to give it a try.

While this routine really helps to invigorate my skin and make me feel calm and relaxed, I have to admit that being around my family and friends brings out my inner glow, being loved and surrounded by my beautiful children and an amazing husband makes my heart shine from within, giving me that beautiful glow bursting out from within.

Some YouTubers that I like to follow for skincare and other facial product advice:

Hyram - he is just so down to earth and at the same time funny in his own way.

Shaanxo I have been watching her for years, while she does a lot of makeup tutorials she has some great product recommendations and skin product advice too

If you are keen to learn more about the Alya Skin range you will find them under Alya Skin, the products are really good.

I hope that my routine has inspired you all to go and run a bath and get some me-time.

We need to look after our selves mentally and physically.

As Hyram says "see your skincare routine as a type of meditation"
