Lithotherapy, discover the benefits of stones and crystals
the benefits of stones and crystals

For thousands of years, the importance of stones and minerals has been known to kings and queens and many other civilizations around the world. They are found in tombs, adorning the arms and graves of great leaders.
These minerals were used as lucky charms in ancient Indian, Egyptian, Mesopotamian and Greek organizations. Their "philters" present in mythology will later be assimilated into witches: they could transform men into beasts and plants.
Remember that from the Middle Ages to the 17th century, doctors were also chemists, alchemists, and astrologers. They left us their writings on their “miracle” remedies. The theory of signatures was then used: thus the red stones were to cure diseases of the blood, the yellow stones, those of the liver...
You see that there are different approaches, it's up to everyone to find their own: energetic, scientific or even... magical!
What is lithotherapy?
The term lithotherapy comes from the Greek Lithos which means stone and Therapeia, therapy. Lithotherapy is a technique that uses the properties of stones and crystals with the aim of providing care.
Stones and crystals act on the physical and psychic levels by rebalancing the vital functions of the body. Lithotherapy is one of the holistic energy therapies that are known to promote balance in the body.
How does lithotherapy work?
Stones and crystals are used in different ways: by direct contact on the skin in jewelry for example, in massage with crystal oils, in the form of elixirs to taste.
There is a great affinity between crystals, composed of silicon, and our body. At the heart of the nucleus of the cells of this one, is the vibratory system also composed of silicon. With lithotherapy, there is resonance: the stone sends the body a signal carrying vibratory information which, depending on the needs, harmonizes the body, purifies it energetically, or stimulates it.
The different classes of minerals
Minerals can be classified by their chemical composition. For use in lithotherapy, it is wise to know the eight main families. Indeed, they each have specific energy properties.
The native elements: the diamond for example with its purity and uniqueness.
Oxides: their properties are energizing like ruby, sapphire, and hematite.
Sulfides: pyrites or blendes allow blocked energies to be evacuated.
Silicates: the largest class of minerals. Some examples: garnet allows autonomy, tanzanite regenerates, tourmaline channels energy, jade calms, charoite protects against external influences and labradorite soothes.
Carbonates: calcite or malachite which help in a child or an elderly person.
Phosphates like turquoise depollute.
Sulfates: quite a rare class like Angelite, protects from the outside.
Halides like fluorite, which has to clarify properties.
How do I choose my stones and crystals?
If you are in a crystal shop, let yourself be guided by your intuition, take the stone in your hands, feel it, feel its warmth, its texture... Is it rough or smooth? Does she attract you?
Otherwise in a thoughtful way, from your readings, you can combine a rational approach with an intuitive approach, before ordering online.
For effective lithotherapy, the stones must be pure and of excellent quality, natural, non-synthetic, not treated with chemicals, not tinted, not heated, not reconstituted or artificially electrified. Beware of certain websites where the origin is not certain. For good energy activity, choose stones and crystals of the right size. The stone must weigh between 50 and 100 grams.
How do I clean my stones and crystals?
In humans, the stone used in lithotherapy conveys energy.
They are able to store it for millions of years, containing physical and energetic information in their lens. Extremely sensitive to its environment, the mineral can also preserve the emotions and thoughts of the person who wears it and also of those around him. It is therefore essential to purify it.
It is all the more necessary to clean your stone if negative events have occurred during a day, on the other hand, if you have spent happy moments, filled with peace, love, and laughter, cleaning will not be not necessary.
Air purification is the simplest, open the windows of the room where the stones are, burn incense, or diffuse essential oils.
Water purification, by running the stone under running tap water for 30 seconds is the method that works for most crystals.
Purification with an amethyst geode can also be done, provided it is large enough for you to place your stones in.
How to recharge the crystals?
The stones, particularly porous and soft, are easily “emptied” by sick or bereaved people. They can even change color.
There are several ways to recharge them:
By exposing them to the sun. Light is the best way to recharge anything, as human beings. Stones that energize in the sun are citrine, ruby, spinel, amber, or pyrite. On the other hand, amethyst, fluorite, and aquamarine do not support exposure to the sun.
One can also take advantage of the moon, as with moonstone, opal, tiffany, and pearl.
Those that like water are turquoise, malachite, azurite, variscite, and opal.
And obviously the rock crystal (itself purified), you can use a druse (carpet of small crystals) and place the stones there for the night.
How to wear my stone or my crystal?
Contact with the skin and the mineral is ideal. You can hold the stone in your hand and put it on you during a meditation session. "Fixing" the stone to the body is also possible as a pendant, or hanging it with plaster to energetically support a specific area of the body, for example.
Can I combine several stones and crystals?
There are a few rules to follow for consistent lithotherapy. Stones of the same family are associated: with a rock crystal with pink quartz. Stones that have identical chemical compounds are associated: malachite and azurite which contain copper. On the other hand, we isolate stones that have a strong personality such as the tiger's eye, which is self-sufficient. And we avoid associating gems with opposite properties: for example, an opal helps a person to be more open and amethyst must, on the contrary, contain it.
How do I make my own crystal water?
We owe this use to Hildegard of Bingen, a Benedictine nun, clairvoyant, and healer, but also a woman of letters and sciences, in the 12th century in Germany, who recommended that the sick drink this water.
To use gemstone waters in lithotherapy, you must clean your stone, and pass it under running tap water. Then to recharge it, the easiest way is to put the stones and crystals in a glass container, filled with filtered water. Then cover the container with gauze and place it outside for 24 hours, two days before the full moon or under the sun. Remove the stone and store the liquid in a small glass bottle, it can be stored for three days in the refrigerator, you can consume it as it is.
However, it is strongly recommended never to ingest a liquid from a stone containing sulfur such as zircon, pyrite, cinnabar, vanadinite, or marcasite… and avoid stones that contain iron such as hematite and magnetite and those that contain copper-like malachite!
How do I store my gemstones?
You have to be careful to avoid shocks with the stones, whether physical, thermal, or emotional. A stone carried by a person in a situation of inner fragility can see his stone split. In this case, the action of the stone becomes null and void.
Stones and crystals should be kept dry, in a clean cotton or silk cloth. Separate porous stones from harder stones and you can group them by characteristics or colors.
The colors of stones and crystals
Each color corresponds to a different wavelength called “frequency”. The stone will convey its energy frequency and with its own color, potentiate its effect.
We can group the stones, for use in Ayurvedic lithotherapy, according to their color, they can rebalance the chakras in pain.
The 1st chakra is under the color red with the notion of “incarnation”: jasper, garnet, ruby, and spinel.
The 2nd chakra is orange in color with “fertility”: fire opal, carnelian, moonstone.
The 3rd chakra is yellow in color with its notion of "discernment": citrine, amber, tiger's eye, pyrite, calcite, and sunstone.
The 4th chakra in green color with "love": aventurine, emerald, rose quartz, kunzite, aphrodite, rhodochrosite.
The 5th chakra of blue color with “communication”: turquoise, chrysocolla, larimar, and blue calcite.
The 6th chakra of indigo color and its "intuition": lapis lazuli, sapphire, azurite, tanzanite.
And the 7th chakra in purple color and its keyword “soul”: amethyst, sugilite, charoite, purple fluorite.
