How to establish calm in your day to day life!

🌊

By Ms. ThomasPublished 6 years ago • 4 min read

I know, I know, this statement how to establish calm. I am not saying this is what everyone should do, nor am I saying that I am an expert. Far from it, I am just a person who has always instilled these routines, lifestyle chooses, and above all made them possible for me to be freely calm and happy always. And I’m just showing what I do and would love to know what you do, everyone is different and that’s what is amazing.

The Morning.

I am a morning person, so when I wake up I literally squint my eyes open, look outside my window to the beautiful trees, and slowly become aware of my surroundings. I always wake up feeling greatful, greatful to be in my comfy bed, to be who I am, to love what I do, and then I just take my time (flip over grab my phone and scroll. But I’m trying not to immediately do that. Now I try to grab my book and read) And some mornings I just turn on the smart tv and watch a little something. Then comes the part of figuring out when I have to be at work, should I work out now or later, is my hair ok or shower, and then breakfast. Once I established my plan then I make my bed, clean up areas depending on what I did, get myself ready for work, (essentials teeth brush, wash face and stuff) then I grab my daily bag fully of my things (phone, wallet, keys, etc). Then I am off to the car to drive a short distance to work with coffee and morning show in tow on the radio (All we hear is radio go go radio ga ga šŸŽ¶)

Work—till off work.

Depending what you might do in your work life it depends on how stressful your job maybe, or may not be. I won’t disclose on mine but it involves working with children, so I am constantly on my toes and never know where the day might go. And now especially with everything happening with COVID things are defiantly higher with anxiety. But we are a team and we work together to make sure not only our children and families are safe but also our coworkers and staff. When I come in, I immediately put my things away, and delve right into the play with the kids. And depending on the weeks lessons and or activities, we follow a daily routine establishing this for the kids. This is womderful to have because it instill what we will be doing from the moment we get in to the moment we are about to go home. But I always try to stay calm and positive, and I am a hard worker and team player so I have that mentality to do that throughout the day. When I am off work, I drive that short distance home, put my stuff down, adjust my ac unit, turn on the tv, and DECOMPRESS šŸ˜‚.

Evening routine

After settling in, I first take some time for me to relax after working hard all day. Get some water, and just chill for 30 mins. Depending on what I did the previous night, I could have leftovers and if I do I just reheat them for dinner. Or I cook dinner or defrost or heat in the microwave depending on everything and also how I feel too. And sometimes if I want to indulge in eating out or deleivery I will all out of balance. And recently since it is summer, I like to have a little glass of rose, or cocktail, or just a cool glass of ice water. Also now that I am back in school, I will looo over my calendar and see what I need to get done and work a little after decompressing. Evening time is so nice where you can unwind in your favorite comfy clothes, do what you want to do and that could be nothing and that is awesome. Sometimes I feel creative, and I pull out my art stuff and draw or write or do something fun.

Weekends

Weekend are a freely mix time where you can do whatever you want to do depending on obligation, motivation, organization, and tasks you want to get done. That’s kinda how I roll on Saturdays, Sunday’s are more decompressing days. Routines are a sequence of actions regularly followed, so depending on your personality you might not have the same as mine. But I know myself and routines are apart of who I am, and they keep me calm and altogether and accomplished. Now here’s a little thing I like to say when the time has come (ending of a story)..... ā€œThe time has comeā€ the walrus said ā€œTo talk of many things, of shoes, and ships, and sealing wax, of cabbages, and kings. And while the sea is boiling hot and weather pigs have wings, Kaloo Kaley no work today. We’re Cabbages and Kingsā€

Carpe Diem
