Getting fit doesn’t have to be difficult, nor does it have to take months to see results. You can be up and running with your new workout plan as soon as January 1st of 2022! From getting rid of belly fat to building lean muscle mass, you’ll get it all here in this ultimate guide to starting your new fitness routine in 2022! We’ll even help you create some healthy habits so you’re prepared every day of the year!

Why Regular Workouts Are So Important

Getting regular workouts into your life can help you achieve numerous health and wellness goals, including weight loss. With so many goals-related benefits, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be consistent with your fitness routine. To start putting together an effective plan for getting fit in 2022, follow these five steps.

Plan your workouts for 6 weeks ahead

So, how do you start your day? Plan your workouts for 6 weeks ahead (it’s recommended that you don’t change up what you do week-to-week). Workout with friends and hold each other accountable; buy a few workout DVDs or sign up for some classes. Remember—there is no quick fix. To start seeing changes, it takes time and effort! You have to commit to healthy habits every day of your life.

Set Goals For Yourself

Don’t just plan for life—set goals for yourself. When it comes to working out, many experts recommend you set reasonable goals and achieve them one by one. This is where your plan for life can come into play; when you look at how far you’ve come, you feel more motivated and inspired to go farther!

Choose A Workout Plan That Fits You

Exercise is like investing; you get out what you put in. Some people want to exercise for hours every day, and some can’t commit more than 20 minutes a day. Whichever type of person you are, there’s an exercise plan that’s right for you! If you don’t know where to start, we have plenty of resources on how to create your own workout routine. You could even use our free fitness planner app to help keep track of your progress as you work towards achieving your goals. The important thing is that you choose something and stick with it—even if it means just committing yourself to one push-up per day. It all adds up over time!

Pick An Appropriate Time To Work Out

To start your day off right, you need to pick an appropriate time of day—we’re talking early morning or evening—to work out. You should avoid working out at lunchtime because you’ll feel lethargic when you get back to work. And try not to work out too late in the evening if you have an early meeting or event on your calendar for later that night.

Know When To Listen To What The Body Says

One of my biggest pieces of advice for how to start your day is to listen. Listen when your body says that it needs rest. That’s probably going to be earlier than you want and later than many of your peers want, but trust that you know yourself better than anyone else does. If your body is saying, Hey! Let’s take it easy today, take heed and do what you can from there.

Start Today!

One of my all-time favorite quotes is by Ralph Waldo Emerson. He said, What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. So true! For your future fitness plan, write down at least three actionable things you can do today that will help you get on track. Remember, these don't have to be huge steps. No matter how big or small they are, they're an investment in yourself and your future. Make them count! If you're still not sure where to start (or if there's something specific that seems intimidating), don't worry—I'll provide a few ideas below. Pick one of these items or come up with your own and get started today!
