Free Weekly Reading #50
Mirror Dragon Tarot
Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric, (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for a smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.
That said;
This week all three cards are court cards. The deck I use is the Thoth Tarot created by Alistair Crowley and illustrated by Lady Frieda Harris. In this deck the cards from Ace to Ten in the Minor Arcana are purely symbolic, as opposed to the RWS system in which all the cards have people in them. The way I see the Tarot, Aces represent the energy of their suit in its purest form then, as the energy divides and changes, it signifies changes and growth at each level. In these changes we find lessons and perspective that we can then apply to things going on in our lives. Once we come to the court cards I see the Princesses, Princes, Queens and Knights in ascending levels of implementation or seniority in their various energies.
The Center card this week is the Knight of Pentacles.
Here we find the solid, confident power to “stay the course” and support those around us who may also be floundering. Feelings of determination and confidence in our own ideas, decisions and/or plans are strong now. So strong, in fact, that we would be well advised to keep at least the option of flexibility in mind. We’re going to want to be stubborn and not all situations fare well with the dug-in approach. On the other hand, if this strength and determination is new to you and you find yourself finally standing up for what you honestly believe is the highest and best for you and all involved, by all means dig in. Use concrete, run rebar, build a fortress with heavy stone. Do try to keep the “big picture” in mind while working with this solid and grounded energy. There is also a sense of serenity and well being with this Knight so as the strength of the fortress solidifies feelings that you’re doing the right thing, the stubborn/confident determination becomes part of your persona.
The West card is the Queen of Wands.
The fire, desire and deep passion of our own creativity and curiosity is in play here and most likely the reason we’ve uncovered the determination to stand strong on our own honorable foundation. With the Queens we find dignity and grace, a mastery more of personification than verbal interaction, we allow others to experience our dignity rather than trying to convince them with descriptions or instructions. The brilliance of our expansive ideas, attitudes and creations practically sets us aglow this week and others will notice. There is a caveat here too as with the Knight above there is a darker aspect to consider. Often when we find a resonant chord, a niche or just the perfect way to go about things (for us), those around us who’ve become accustomed to the way things were before we shifted either don’t understand, don’t want to give up their own control or simply aren’t ready to change along with us. This is where our wisdom and inner grace come in. Paired with the powerhouse Knight this fiery Queen knows the benefits of dignity in dealing with less evolved emotional outbursts. With a calm and gentle wisdom a Mom knows that when her child bursts out with, “I hate you!” it has more to do with frustration than intention so she meets the outburst with tranquility and understanding. She knows those angry words, though they do carry honest feelings and obvious passion, carry less conviction than pure emotion. And she is not crushed by them.
The East card is the Prince of Cups.
I see the Princes as the adolescent boys of the Tarot. At the second tier of implementation these guys have the rules and regs of the Ace through Ten lessons under their belts and think they know it all. Experimentation happens here, where daring (foolishness) reigns supreme and boundaries are tested to their absolute outer limits. What that means for this week is that we’re going to find ourselves awash in bold but unruly emotions, our own as well as those around us. This means up to and including the angry driver in the next lane, the exhausted check out cashier and the giddy boss who’s direction may not follow a predictable or even comprehensible path. For the times when you find yourself asking WTF? Recenter, get in touch with the dignity of the Queen and the strength of the Knight and proceed with calm intent and specific focus.
In Conclusion;
This week our best bet is to be the grownup in the room and deal with whatever tantrum might pop up. Not all the explosive emotional energy will be anxiety driven, some may be about a brilliant new idea that everyone knows is a perfect option or someone sliding their self conscious fear behind them and expressing a love that cries out to bloom and grow. The cool thing about all of this is that we have the determination, strength, grace and wisdom to weave whatever splashy emotions come up into a vibrant fabric of growth and forward movement.
Have a noble week!
Light, Tory
