Thoth Tarot

The Center card for this week is the 4 of Swords.

The fours of the Tarot are about feeling settled or slowed down, taking a break and contemplating the current situation. At times this can seem like things are stalled or blocked which can be frustrating however the slowdown time gives us a chance to look at what’s happened up to this point. With the suit of swords, we’re dealing with our intellect, the weapons of the mind. This being the case, we may find ourselves thinking of ways to justify the work we’ve done and the things we’ve accomplished. Given this break in the action, so to speak, this week should be a particularly good time to look at what’s been going on in our lives. What things do we feel strongly about? What needs clarification? Is there something that’s been left unsaid that eats away at confidence or trust or understanding? If you’ve been holding back from telling your boss that a colleague isn’t pulling their weight or telling a loved one that you really do care about their issues or even telling someone you need help, whether sensitive, frightening, important or even silly or inconsequential, this week finding the words and the timing seems right at our fingertips.

The West card is the 4 of Pentacles.

In this case, with the earthy pentacles, we’re at a place where the groundwork has been done, paths are laid, and foundations solidified and it’s time to look back and see what worked what didn’t. During the lull we get the chance to see whether there’s money and energy left over or more time or resources needed. We can look at which efforts we employed worked with the plan and which ones took more time, money or energy than was needed or was affordable. This needn’t be purely material in nature, it can be personal and intellectual too. Maybe you’ve gone the extra mile to make someone you care about feel good or spent more of your time on a work project than was required or expected and the results show how much the extra attention improved the outcome. With both fours together the opportunity to recognize clearly and speak up about what’s worked or what hasn’t is wide open. Let folks know how much your efforts have paid off or what other personnel or tools or financing is needed to progress toward the desired outcome. Do you need your partner to go to the store for that extra ingredient to make the perfect spooky Halloween punch? Ask. Do you need the bank to approve a loan to expand your business? Fill out the forms. Maybe the person you’ve been doing extra things for should be made aware of the care you’ve been taking so that they feel loved and supported. Let them know it was you and that you do care.

The East card is the Princess of Pentacles.

Having put in the work, time, energy and care and with the ability to communicate clearly this week we’ve opened doors to broader possibilities and lines of communication that allow us to speak and interact in a more honest and effective way. This leads to renewed passion for doing whatever work is needed and speaking up with our newly realized and refined communication skills. I see the Princesses of the Tarot as the children. They’re taking the first actual steps on the path of their suit. Everything is new, fascinating, and inspiring. Like the first time you ever drive a car. You’ve passed the written test in Driver’s Ed. and now it’s time to put your new skills into action. The experience shifts from intellectual “understanding” to actual experience and the realization of what freedom you now have is wonderful. In her we find the excitement and momentum to reach for and make new realities.

In conclusion;

Although the week may feel like somebody’s turned up the gravity and movement is slowed with missed connections, computer glitches, lost parts or unreceived messages, (thankyou Mercury retrograde) it’s a great time to take stock of where we are, how we got here, what worked and what we want or need to kick to the curb. With the clarity of mind and conclusions we find under the influence of the 4 of Swords and the realization of just how much work we’ve done to get to this place, time or situation we find that we’re ready for next steps and feel reinvigorated and excited to get started.

Have a clear and restful week.

Light, Tory
