Reading for 7-12 thru 7-18-21

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

Three swords this week. So it looks like the week will be defined by our intellect, our sense of justice and our ability to communicate.

The Center card this week is the Queen of Swords.

I see the queens of the Tarot as the nurturers and the teachers. They embody the motherly instincts of their individual suits combining the wisdom of experience with the deep, heartfelt connection of mother to child. Since we’re clearly working with the Air element this week we see this queen as a master of logic, truth and ideas along with the ability to communicate clearly and without frills or over indulgence in platitudes and praise. If praise is deserved, the encouragement will be honest and supportive. On the other hand, if discipline is required there will be no soft touch. Very few will be able to get away with behaving badly. With this queen, as with all the swords, truth is up front and center whether we want to look at it or not.

The West card is the 3 of Swords.

This card comes up to show us the connection between our experiences and the lessons learned by living through them. Fragments of memory float up into our consciousness to be examined or reexamined and integrated into our current belief structures and wisdom. Often with this energy, we find old wounds popping up that need to be healed. As an example, old feelings of self recrimination may surface in a new relationship giving us an opportunity to rethink the validity of a doubt we may feel. If we allow ourselves to actually think about that doubt or the feelings it brings up we can often see that, while it may have been appropriate at the time, it no longer carries the same truth and could actually be an obstacle to honest and loving communication now. During this time it’s important to consciously recognize the fractured past and the valuable gifts of wisdom that reside there.

The East card is the Princess of Wands.

As the queens are the mothers of the Tarot the princesses are the newbies. If we look at the ace through ten of each suit as the curriculum of its particular energy, the princesses emerge as though they’ve just completed their schooling and are ready to take that first step into the career they’ve been preparing for. The courage and strength of the princesses lie in their innocence. They go forward, arms wide open excited with the beginning of this new journey and fascinated by the opportunity to see their education at work in the real world. There is no judgement because there's no prior experience so the princesses step into their paths with no preconceived ideas. This week the princess of Swords gives us the chance to renew our convictions by adding the lessons of our past to the wisdom we now carry.

In conclusion:

We’re pretty much all about thought, ideas and communication this week and likely facing some bits and pieces from our past rising up to nip at our heels and stir up whatever doubt, recognition or revelation in our prior experience is relevant to what we’re dealing with now. Be aware that the swords have sharp edges and our words, although they may come from the heart and hold all the truth of what we know, may have a tendency to come out with more sharpness or venom than we intend. The good news is that we will also find the words we need to speak honestly towards clearer and more balanced communication.

Have an honest and heartfelt week

Light, Tory

TIP for the week: Gaining knowledge is the first step to wisdom. Sharing it is the first step to humanity.
